help I need a rebuttal
One of my right-wing colleagues just sent me this, I know that someone has prepared a re-buttal but I don't no whereto find it. Anyone have a link?

Twenty ways to identify a Good Democrat!!

1. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal
funding.

2. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th graders
how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.

3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are
more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of
Chinese Communists.

4. You have to believe that there was no art before federal funding.

5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by
cyclical, documented changes in the earth's climate, and more affected
by
liberal yuppies driving SUV's.

6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial, but being
homosexual is natural.

7. You have to be against capital punishment, but in favor of
abortion-on-demand.

8. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments
create prosperity.

9. You have to believe that hunters don't care about nature, but loony
activists who've never been outside of Seattle do.

10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually
doing something to earn it.

11. You have to believe that the military, not corrupt politicians, start
wars.

12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of
the Constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain
parts of the Constitution.

13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.

14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more
important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, General Robert E.
Lee, or Thomas Edison.

15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial
quotas and set-asides aren't.

16. You have to believe that Hillary Clinton is really a lady.

17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked
anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in
charge.

18. You have to believe conservatives telling the truth belong in jail, but
a liar and sex-offender belonged in the White House.

19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag,
transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected and
manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.

20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic funding by the Chinese
Communists is somehow in the best interest of the United States

1. 21 Rules for Being a Good Republican
21 Rules for Being a Good Republican

1) You have to believe that the nation's current 8-year prosperity was due entirely to the work of Ronald Reagan and George Bush, but that yesterday's gas prices are all Clinton's fault.

2) You have to believe that those privileged from birth achieve success all on their own.

3) You have to be against government programs, but expect Social Security checks on time.

4) You have to believe that government should stay out of people's lives, yet you want government to regulate your reproductive choice and what your official language should be.

5) You have to believe that pollution is OK, so long as it makes a profit.

6) You have to believe in prayer in schools, as long as you don't pray to Allah or Buddha.

7) You have to believe that only your own teenagers are still virgins.

8) You have to believe that a woman cannot be trusted with decisions about her own body, but that large multi-national corporations should have no regulation or interference whatsoever.

9) You love Jesus and Jesus loves you and, by the way, you believe that Jesus shares your hatred of AIDS victims, homosexuals, and President Clinton.

10) You have to believe that society is color-blind and growing up black in America doesn't diminish your opportunities, but you still won't vote for Alan Keyes.

11) You have to believe that it was wise to allow Ken Starr to spend $50 million dollars to attack Clinton because no other U.S. presidents have ever been unfaithful to their wives.

12) You have to believe that a waiting period for purchasing a handgun is bad because quick access to a new firearm is an important concern for all Americans.

13) You have to believe it is wise to keep condoms out of schools, because we all know if teenagers don't have condoms they won't have sex.

14) You have to believe that the ACLU is bad because they defend the Constitution, while the NRA is good because they defend the Constitution.

15) You have to believe that socialism hasn't worked anywhere, and that Europe doesn't exist.

16) You have to believe the AIDS virus is not important enough to deserve federal funding proportionate to the resulting death rate and that the public doesn't need to be educated about it, because if we just ignore it, it will go away.

17) You have to believe that biology teachers are corrupting the morals of 6th graders if they teach them the basics of human sexuality, but the Bible, which is full of sex and violence, is good reading.

18) You have to believe that Chinese communist missiles have killed more Americans than handguns, alcohol, pollution, and tobacco.

19) You have to believe that even though governments have supported the arts for 5000 years and that most of the great works of Renaissance art were paid for by governments, our government should shun any such support.
After all, the rich can afford to buy their own and the poor don't need any.

20) You have to believe that the lumber from the last one percent of old growth U.S. forests is well worth the destruction of those forests and the extinction of the many species of plants and animals therein.

21) You have to believe that we should forgive and pray for Newt Gingrich, Henry Hyde, and Bob Livingston for their marital infidelities, but that awful Clinton deserved to be impeached.

6. Some updates:
The only fundraiser with known ties to Communist China is a Republican.

You have to believe that secrets stolen by China during the Reagan and Bush administrations are the Democrats' (and specifically Bill Clinton's) fault.

2. Oh hell, where to start?
This sort of ungrounded, no-reference, nameless drivel is the stock-in-trade for the intellectually and morally bankrupt right wing. There is no reference made to any specific person (except, of course, Hillary and Bill Clinton), and the whole list is jam-packed with half-lies, innuendo, myth and nonsense.

If you aren't particularly beholden to this right-wing colleague, kindly tell him or her to fuck off. If you feel the need to respond to this pettifoggery that wouldn't get past a first year law student, just wait; you'll have plenty of rebuttal in a very short while.

8. I agree with you...
a rebuttal should be factual not a similar list attributed to Republicans.

Anyone got facts to rebut this. It would help the poster more than what is here so far

12. Horse shit
The people that mindlessly forward these e-mails aren't interested in facts and links, hit them with #1 reply and that will shut them up.

You must understand the mentality of those who just forward that crap because it is hammering on Clinton and the Dems, it sounds good to them, so the response in like kind is perfect. After all we are not debating with them just slamming back with a reply that counters the stuff they send.

I will save this and just wait for the e-mail to come around and it will but I will have the response to fire back immediately.

The Democratic Dividend
The stock market prefers Democratic presidents to Republicans. Why?
By Carol Vinzant
Posted Friday, October 4, 2002, at 4:15 PM PT

President George W. Bush inherited the lousy end of the business cycle. The stock market has been falling throughout his entire term, battered by war, a feeble economy, and corporate scandals. Yet this decay still hasn't shaken Americans' faith that Republicans are better for the economy and the market. Poll after poll shows that when Americans divide up the chores of running the country, they tend to think of the economy and stock market as Republican domain and delegate softer issues, like the environment, to Democrats.

But Democrats, it turns out, are much better for the stock market than Republicans. Slate ran the numbers and found that since 1900, Democratic presidents have produced a 12.3 percent annual total return on the S&P 500, but Republicans only an 8 percent return. In 2000, the Stock Trader's Almanac, which slices and dices Wall Street performance figures like baseball stats, came up with nearly the same numbers (13.4 percent versus 8.1 percent) by measuring Dow price appreciation. (Most of the 20th century's bear markets, incidentally, have been Republican bear markets: the Crash of '29, the early '70s oil shock, the '87 correction, and the current stall occurred under GOP presidents.)

According to almanac editor Jeffrey Hirsch, the presidential party figures are among the most significant he's found. If the stock market were random, we'd expect such a result only one-quarter of the time. "I don't know why people are convinced Republicans are good for the stock market," Hirsch says.

Nor does having a Republican Congress help the market. A Democratic Senate showed returns of 10.5 percent (versus 9.4 percent for a GOP upper chamber), and a Democratic House returned 10.9 percent versus 8.1 percent for the Republicans.

When both houses of Congress opposed the president, the return was a stellar 12.9 percent. Libertarians may celebrate this as proof that the market likes gridlock and government inaction. But the market likes steamrollers nearly as much: The S&P performs almost as well—returning 11.8 percent—when the presidency and both houses are held by the same party. The only situation Mr. Market dislikes is what we have now: one house for each party. Those years have a -0.9 percent return.

Republicans are no doubt muttering that that's just the stock market, not the whole economy. But real GDP growth follows the same pattern. Since 1930 (the first year decent data is available), GDP growth was 5.4 percent for Democratic presidents and 1.6 percent for Republicans.

There may be all sorts of explanations for the bias of the economy and the markets toward Democrats. The worst years of the Great Depression occurred under Republican Herbert Hoover, and Democrats got credit for the entire recovery. Democrats had some awfully good streaks of peace and prosperity in the '30s, late '40s, and '90s. These could be chance, or it could be that Democrats more tightly regulate the markets, which gives investors confidence. Democrats are more likely to spread the wealth around through public spending on education or transportation, which may stimulate the economy more broadly. The foundation of recent GOP economic policy—tax cuts—may offer narrower benefits than Republicans claim. High defense spending, another GOP hallmark, may only boost one sector while hurting the whole economy in the form of bigger federal deficits and higher interest rates.

Whatever the reasons for it, this Democratic dividend should encourage the party's 2004 presidential contenders. They have a new slogan to run on: Democrats—the party of Wall Street.

Moneybox thanks economists Susan Woodward and Robert Hall, Ibbotson Associates, and the Stock Trader's Almanac.Carol Vinzant has covered Wall Street for Fortune and the Washington Post.

10. To be a republican, one has to believe
that Republican fiscal irresponsibly, equating in record high deficit spending, recessions, and pushing state budgets into fiscal crisis are good for the national economy.

Note: the record deficits, and recent recessions, and recent periods of fiscal crisis (last 20 years) have all happened when the GOP controls the WH.

Hey MnAtty, if you were really a liberal, or a Dem, you wouldn't need help with that infantile bullshit, you could crush it with a trillion brain cells tied behind your frontal lobe.

Now please, pitch that tent between my nuts and move yourself in and live there. You'll feel right at home with all the other campers.
