CBS Early Show glosses over Boxer's examination of Rice
The battle of the MSM bringing fair and accurate news has many fronts. This include what the morning news/entertainment schmaltz, such as CBS "Early Show". This morning, Julie Chen and a guest commentatator from the Congressional Qurterly focused on the emotions at play between Boxer and Rice, equating it to a "Dallas" exchange between "Alexis and (somebody, did not get the character's name)".

=========================================================

"Biography: "Julie Chen, one of the new anchors for The Early Show, has been an Early Show news reader..."" You said it. A news reader. Apparently incapable of journalism or news analysis.

This morning's segment with the reporter from the Congressional Quarterly was an insult to Senator Boxer and National Security Advisor Rice, as well as an embarassment to herself.

In the segment (I cringe to use the word "report") focused on emotional tension. Ms. Chen and your show FAILED to cover any of the facts that serve as a basis for the exchange.

Programming suggestion: CBS loves reality-based entertainment, introduce some reality into your news programming as well.

By the way, what were the facts in the President Bush / Dr. Rice transcripts held by Senator Boxer?"

2. Was She Waving Pom Poms, Too?
Except for C-SPAN & ABC News Now, yesterday's coverage was a joke. The cable networks kept framing Condisleeza as some saint/victim...how dare Boxer dare question her past performance...we want to hear more about the 3-year old playing the piano.

Jon Stewart, as usual, nailed it last night. Most people I know only watch Countdown & The Daily Show for national news on the tube these days, the rest are a waste of electrons.

3. Boxer attacked on CNN
CNN Question of the Day with Jack Cafferty. He is condescendingly calling Boxer's stand a "12-minute attack" on Rice. The question is:
Was Sen. Barbara Boxer out of line accusing Condoleezza Rice of lying?

Obviously no bias there....

Responses are not good for Boxer so far. Email CNN here:

6. Jackson drops wardrobe....POW. Rapper at inaugural says "F" word - nada.
I don't know why I am continuing to watch "Early Show" (I usually watch CSPAN Journal) but......

They just covered the "young peoples' event or whatever it was called.

They must know about the swear word used last night, it was all over here.

But in the "Early Show's "coverage" of the event, it was all glitz and schmaltz. Not one word of the swear.

If you feel like contacting them, info is above. I'm switching to CSPAN on TV and "political" forum here.

10. These 'morning infotainment shows' including CNN do US disservice.
These shows mix politics and showbiz in a way that is insulting to viewers.
