I am proud of our democrats - including Biden
The questioning coming from the democrats is pointed and unified regardless of how the voting occurs. They are tough but still act as statesmen. It is clear that they are not just partisan hacks who are complaining because they are democrats. They have serious reservations. If nothing else, anyone listening to them has the opportunity to learn a great deal. Biden has made it clear that believes a president can choose his cabinet and that is the only reason he will vote to confirm. He is following his principle and I call that integrity.

His statements along with Kerry, and Boxer fit my feelings exactly. This administration lies to the people, to the senate and congress. I actually learned a great deal from the democrats during the questioning. I just wish it didn't take a confirmation hearing to have these things brought into the open. The fault there lies also in the media that has largely given this administration a free pass.

1. I'll be prouder of them if they oppose Bush's next war
before it happens instead of after.

2. Where was all this backbone for the past four years?
Kerry was kind of a wuss, too. Did you catch the clip on TDS yesterday? Kerry sounded stern, then admitted rice would be confirmed regardless. Stewart said something like, "Democrats: An ounce of resistance and a pound of capitulation."

5. Is that Capitulation or recognition of reality?
I mean if they have the votes, would it be better if Kerry said "I know we Democrats can stop the confirmation" and then failed to do so?

10. Oh, a little show of fighting spirit wouldn't hurt.
But, no. Roll over and shut up like a good senator.

i am disgusted by most of them... and am saddened that i'm apparently in the minority because this only enables their despicable behavior.

we MUST support the ones in the minority - like boxer - who are speaking truth to power and working for positive change and challenging the status quo.

i am so proud of barbara boxer and let my 16 yo daughter know how people of color and women are fighting first and hardest... my daughter has some great contemporary role models these days.

peace

Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 11:00 AM by Rowdyboy
suggesting that Democrats are doing something right, and half a dozen people jump in to tell you what worthless, lying scum the Democrats are and no one attempts to defend you....We have more people here who hate Democrats than they do at Free Republic and the hate here is more vitriolic.

11. Just a little overreaching, don't you think?
I don't see any "lying scum democrats" posts on this thread. Let's at least aim for accuracy, can we do that?

The democrats got the benefit of our doubt so, so much right up until January 6, and it wall all for nothing. The past couple of days have been too little and too late. Kudos to Boxer, but the outcome is the same, and so it's nothing to praise them for.

Effort's a great thing, but I tend to judge based on results.
