the republicans, you know where they stand

It is time we vote these people out, and get new people in who stand for something

2. Gee, didn't one of the primary candidates mention that last year?
...something about "not beating Bush by being Bush-lite"?

5. I voted Dean in the primary - Kerry in the general.
I'm in Ohio, so my vote for Dean didn't make a difference, unfortunately.

7. Me too, I liked Dean
Let's face it, Governors become president, not Senators. At least not in over 40 years.

6. What the Dems don't get is that they don't have to fight all
the Republicans - but they do have to stand up to the ones who are the key players in the Bush/Neocon fascist regime.

There are some fights they actually have to show up for.

8. Oh fucking bullshit.
Just because they didn't piss in the wind with some little bullshit protest vote against Rice doesn't make them worse than the GOP.

9. Yeah, that's right!
It doesn't make them worse than the GOP when they voted for Rice.
It doesn't make them worse than the GOP when they voted for the IWR
It doesn't make them worse than the GOP when they voted for NCLB
It doesn't make them worse than the GOP when they voted for the Patriot Act.
It doesn't make them worse than the GOP when they voted for prescription drug "reform"
It does make them as bad as the GOP though when they do these and other things. The Democratic party is supposed to be an opposition party, but sad to say, the Dems have become part of the problem, you know, the two party/same corporate master system of government that we're living under. And that my friend makes them just as bad as the GOP. In fact I would go one further and say that it makes them worse than the GOP. We all know that the GOP is the party of the haves and have mores. But the Democratic party is supposed to be the party of the people, the little guy, the working stiff. And yet with each passing day, with each vote, the Democrats betray us at every turn.

16. most people on this board have never served in elected office ...
and it shows. Congress if full of compromise and deals made to get your most important things and sometimes it gets ugly. Rice is not the biggest deal the Dems need to fight for right now.

Real world politics is about choosing battles. That confirmation was inevitible and if the dems can't forge a relationship with her, any input they might have on foreign policy will be ignored.
It is MORANIC to assume she won't listen and vote with that in mind. I don't have a dem senator, but I would be pissed if I did and they threw away any chance at all of having a working relationship with her when foreign policy is riding on it.

Opposing judges is another story. Our domestic future is riding on that. If they don't have the stored political capital to do that, we are screwed!

10. Nice flamebait.
I agree that many Dems have been dissappointing but to say they are worse than Rethugs is bullcrap.

11. I agree. Dems that vote for wrong policies/people are worse than repugs
They take our energy and support as representatives of an alternate view, but then legislate against our wishes.

DINOs must be replaced with true progressives. Hand wringing will ensure the current slide into a theocratic slave-state will continue.

17. we need to change our system if you want an opposition party to win
at this point. Dems are outnumbered. There are some things they need to win on and they need to pick the battles. We got Bush ...Condi is just an appendage of the main neocon machine.

13. I also agree. It's just as NPR is more odious to me than screaming
AM talk radio. They have the image and identity of the "liberal" or "public interest" organ, but in truth are bought and paid for by corporate interests. The Dems in congress are the same way. Their opposition to the selling of our government is strictly for show.

21. We need to thank the dems who
stand up to these thugs and smack those who don't. I called Feinstein's office yesterday to tell her that I thought it was wrong to cozy up to the criminal Rice. I also sent a thank you email to Boxer's office. Dems in congress represent us- the rank and file. We need to let them know where we stand.

For decades 'fundies' have been contacting their reps screaming about their pet issues. We need to scream in our reps ears about these traitors and stopping this fascism that * has put forth.
