I don't believe this. They want more money from me, yet only TWO
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 01:21 PM by WritersBlock
Democratic senators had the guts to vote nay today.

I just checked my e-mail, and there's a message from Terry McAuliffe asking me for more money.

Lissen up, Terry et al, and pass this around to the Democrats in the House & Senate:

Don't keep sending me e-mails asking for my money if you ain't willing to fight for America.

Now is the time to send a clear signal to the Washington Republicans that Democrats will not falter or fall back -- we will stand up and fight for our values.

No shit, guys & gals. When you planning on starting?

</rant>

Now go ahead and flame me for being negative. Sorry, but I felt like I'd been slapped in the face when I read that mail a few minutes ago.

Edit for clarity

1. no flame here
I'm deeply disappointed in the so-called opposition at this point.

3. I think Kerry will make a great Vice President for Barbara Boxer in 2008
As usual, Kerry needs a strong woman to lead him by the nose in the right direction.

2. I deleted that email as soon as I got it. They think they can just rake in
the money without doing anything for it. I think it shows a lot of contempt for us.

5. I thought the same exact thing when I got my "give us $$" email today
A week or two ago the DNC sent me a membership card that would be activated if I sent them money. Don't know how they expect to "activate" a piece of laminated paper, but whatever. It makes for a great bookmark and for the first time in a long time, I'm getting practical benefits from the DNC. Not once have I lost my place in the book I'm currently reading.

6. Just received the same email
I know it will go into a cyber black hole, but it felt good to respond back with this:

"McAuliffe, why are you asking for money now? We gave until we couldn't give anymore in this last election, and where did it get us?
The best message I see being sent to the Republicans right now is from Barbara Boxer. She stands for what I believe in for this party--some backbone. She'll get my money directly from now on.
I see the rest of this party doing exactly the same for the next 4 years--paying lip service to doing the right thing, but then rubber stamping whatever Bush wants in the end.
Enough!"

7. Thomas Frank ('WTF is with Kansas') says
I think the values of the left still have power. But something has become apparent to me since I moved to Washington, D.C. . There is this aversion, bordering on hatred, for the left, especially among Democrats. People who dominate discussions in Democratic circles despise the left, and there is no way in hell they are going to embrace the values of the left. You can try to explain to them how they need to do it for strategic purposes or in order to win elections, it doesn’t matter. The Democratic centrists got their way , they got their candidate, they got their way on everything, and they still lost. And who gets the blame? It’s going to be the left.

Kind of puts McAuliffe in a strange perspective, eh? They want our money but not our voices.

Actual book title is What's the Matter with Kansas? How Conservatives Won the Heart of America

8. Yeah, that was my reaction, too, and I'm not a DNC basher.
My attitude is that my level of support of the Democratic Party is exactly equal to their level of support of me. They got two senators (so far) to vote my way. That's two more than any other party, but not nearly enough to earn any of my money.

10. I'm with you
I sent a lot of money that I couldn't afford to help with the Kerry campaign, and I feel cheated (the quick concession, the voting irregularities not being #1 on the lips of all Dems, today's vote, etc.) I'll just keep my wallet closed while I watch for some improvements. Does Dean really have a chance to be the next DNC leader?

11. Well, DNC--start acting like an OPPOSITION PARTY
grow a pair of ovaries, make a stand against an incompetant lapdog as SoS, and make Howard Dean your chairman--and then you'll have shown that you aren't "faltering" or "falling back."

And then maybe you'll get some of my hard-earned dough.

Till then it's staying local.
