Poll question: Are you waiting for SuperDemocratPerson to fly out of the sky and save us
With a nod to SmokingJacket for this poll idea.

Will there ever be a candidate pure enough to win the DU seal of approval?

1. SuperDemocratPerson, thy name is...
HOWARD DEAN!

He'll leap tall buildings in a single bound!

He'll freeze Republicans to death!

He'll get the massive grassroots movement going and voting Democratic!

2. There will never be a candidate who will
earn the unanimous DU seal of approval. There are too many different opinions of what we need.

3. Other: Yes, because it does not appear that the people
will rise in their own defense. (At least, not enough of us.)

5. People keep waiting for the hero or the pendulem to swing back
Trouble is neither of those happen unless the people stand up and make it happen.

6. It can be just about anyone
if the people turn against the status quo. If the people will lead, the leaders will follow - dunno who said that first (wasn't me) but I think it's accurate. What politicians want most is to be re-elected. Money may be a close second, but they can't get the money if they don't win the election.

9. No
it's up to the people and the people will tolerate a great deal before they act

many people adjust to the bad as long as they can still feel as if it's not happening to them personally

what those people don't understand is, it IS happening them to personally...

12. Possibly, a majority seal but never unanimous
Too many different people with differing particular ideas and ideals to agree on one person unanimously. However, we could be a majority agreeing. (Unless we use paperless evoting of course)

13. No! It's a team, it's an army! The right-wingers are an army, they don't..
have a "SuperRepublicanPerson" to fly out of the sky... they thought they had one in Reagan, but he was just an actor. They don't have any such person now. B**h is just the lowly sales associate... the greeter at the Wal-Mart door. The Right is a gigantic army all pushing in one direction - the left also needs to become an army, not just a church with one "savior" politician.

and as Tina Turner once sang:
"...we don't need another hero,
we don't need to know the way home,
all we want is life beyond the Thunderdome..."

16. Some where out there is a Democratic candidate simmering in....
the background. This person/persons is developing the fire in his belly to be tested, tested to run for the Presidency. The question for us is will we hear that voice? Will we recognize it? Will we rally around and draw in the wagons? Will we then allow our long & protracted primary system to beat up this person, cut his throat, and just leave him along the political highway. Will the Democratic Party recognize this candidate or will party partisans seek to destroy. Sometimes Democrats are their own worst enemies and can't seem to see the tree through the forest. We never learn from our mistakes and seem to constantly repeat them all while trying to compete against the now new "big tent repukes". They are playing our game against us and no one notices.

Where is our modern day Theodore Roosevelt?

We need a determined, fighter to stand up for the Democratic values that this country was founded on.

27. the calvary
Remember in those old westerns, when everything looked hopeless, the calvary rode in to the rescue, I was reading at a military website a critique of the inauguration against the status of the 25,000 wounded from Afghanistan & Iraq, the military is not stupid, they KNOW better than anyone about the lack of planning, the torture memos, the arming of troops and decisions made for how many troops to send to Iraq and on the search for Osama and what occurred on 911, I am hoping that they will ride to our rescue with a little truth. Truth is the only thing that will work for us right now, it's the only thing that will eat thru the spin, spin, win, win.

28. I don't need a "Super" anyone to fly out of the sky and save me
There are plenty of real, not "Super" people in the Democratic Party. Kerry had my undying support until he swiftly conceded, and I will eventually get over that, in fact I think I am already over it. No Democratic candidate will ever be perfect and it would be unrealistic to believe so. "Pure enough" is not a qualifier for me.
