Green Party teen seeks office
From the local paper:

Political apathy reportedly is rampant among young people.

Apparently, no one told Zachary Smith, 18, of Charlestown.

The Great Valley High School senior is running for a six-year term on the township board of auditors.

"I want to be a politician after I graduate from college," he said.

1. BOO YA!
<snip>
Smith has been a member of the Green Party since he turned 18 almost a year ago.

"I saw a lot of problems with the two-party system," he said. "I’m a liberal, and the Green Party represented what I believed in most. And it wasn’t a major party, so that’s why I chose it. In a democracy, it’s better to have people represent you from more than just two points of view."

He had hoped more Green Party candidates would seek public office in this election.

"Most of that was out of my power," he said. "All I could really do is run myself."

Way to go!!!!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

2. Good for him. This is how a 3rd party movement should be run.
Build your political credentials from the bottom up... instead of mucking up the presiditial race with a hypocritical blow-hard.

Numerous long-time members of the German parliament will be replaced in the next session by younger, less-known candidates. Among them is Anna Lührmann, the Bundestag's youngest MP.

On Sunday, the candidate for the Greens was elected by voters to represent the constituency of Hesse in the new federal parliament, whose new session begins on October 22.

For Lührmann, it will be her first parliamentary session. For Otto Schily, German Interior Minister and the Bundestag’s oldest member, it will be the sixth. The 70-year-old is the German parliament’s oldest representative, and will open the next session as the Bundestag’s new Senior Chairman

5. He can't run as a green!!!
He doesn't even hold a financial stake in Merk, Viacom, and Wal-mart, for Christ's sake.

Apparently he's unwilling to take heed of Fidelity Ralph's example: profiting from the industries he bashes."

Seriously, it's good to see a kid politically active.
