What can we do here, to tell the Iraqi People, "Sorry, We tried..."
We tried to get rid of *, but him and the Bush Cabal cheated, so we're stuck with him too. :(

I have CNN/International on, they are still showing footage that they probably shot last year, as filler, but even with the sound off, I can see how worried and scared the women and children are over there.

What can WE do, to let them know that at least 1/2 of America cares?

2. Honestly, I don't know. How do you make up for this? Should we go over
there and help them somehow? Send money?

I just don't know. It doesn't mean we shouldn't try but... it's so overwhelming, the evil we have perpetrated.

4. I think most of us can't think of anything.
I know I can't. I think it would take something like a bloody uprising (here) to restore American-Iraqi relations.

5. I care...
Thank you for starting this message. It is a question we definitely need to ask ourselves.

The answer: I don't know. My best answer is we need to stop this war, somehow. Even if it takes putting our wellbeing and bodies on the line.

7. The Iraqi Photo Project
was one small way that some Americans could convey their profound sense of grief and shame, as well as their heartfelt apology for what has been done in their names.

Photographs of ordinary Americans holding a handwritten message, an expression of what they feel in their hearts about the war and its results were sent to appropriate Arab media outlets.

In my community, a local restaurateur wrote our message in Arabic. The photo was also printed in our local newspaper.

Unfortunately, the website ( http://www.forusa.org/programs/iraq/iraq-photoproject.html ) is no longer available.

9. Fellowship of Reconciliation has a similar project

We can always use more ways to remind the people of the world that most USans are human, not monsters like those who control our gov't.

When torturers and agents of trans-national corporatism controlled Chile or Greece or Italy or Spain, most of the world did not blame the population as a whole, so there is hope. But when the vast majority of Germans accepted Nazi rule, they earned the condemnation they received and they shared in the guilt for the crimes of their leaders.

11. Thank You for All the ideas , So far
:hug:I feel kind of like, what it must have felt like to be a "Good Catholic" in Nazi Germany. The feeling of helplessness, watching the injustice, and seeing your Church not standing up to it, or even capitulating.

Hopefully, we will get more ideas today, for any ways we can show the suffering people of Iraq our support.:grouphug:
