Barack Obama.....What The H&$$ |
|
Barack Obama
What the hell was he thinking today.....WHY did he not vote NO during the Senate Foriegn Relations Committee??????
I think all the DEMS on the committee should have voted NO....Rice is a LIAR....a PUPPET for coruption...
Why are the DEMS just letting these CORUPT appointees have a PASS....Boxer has my respect....Kerry has gained back a little that was lost in a WAY TO EARLY CONSESSION.
I though Barack Obama was somone who stood for truth and accountability......WHAT STOOD IN HIS WAY TODAY????

Wouldn't be the first time for such disappointment, I'm sure.

2. Now? When hasn't he been? |

Or any of them, for that matter? Democrat or republican, politicians are scum of the earth. The parties are only a matter of degree of how filthy they are.

3. I know, I wondered the same thing |
|
This is interesting. One thread, which made it to the front page, talks about this.
Several things are left on the table:
1. If Dems are picking their battles, why did Kerry and Boxer vote no?
2. Why would the other Dems level hard questions on Rice, and then vote yes?
3. Are Dems going to fight this at all? And if not, when will they start fighting for something?
This certainly isn't the end of the world, and it certainly isn't a call to abandon Obama and others, but at least one or two others could have given a no vote, I think. I still am wondering why Kerry and Boxer would risk the backlash for showing opposition. That is the burning question I have...

"Because she was going to be nominated anyway".....and he is a new Senator...
Is that why Kerry ran....because he knew that Bush was going to win......I dont think so.......We Vote in favor of the apparent winner without making a statement....she has enough VOTES without the DEMS approval......At least we DEMs could put up a fight.....The PUGS do!!!!!

Obama's colors have yet to be seen. As a young Freshman, I'm sure he's trying to kiss major ass. We'll just have to wait and see, but this was one of his first acts as a senator.
In case anyone needs a memory jog:
Bin Laden Determined to Attack Within U.S. Using Airplanes to strike buildings, like the world trade center.
Rice: If we had known what day, and what planes, and where, then we would have been able to do something.

Turkish proverb. They all have feet of clay, as do we. They're just more conspicuous. We need to be like the French -- no permanent friends, no permanent enemies, just permanent interests.

8. "Pollitical Expediency" |
|
A "no" vote would have had no effect on the outcome.
They didn't accumulate any political capital by voting "no"
They REALLY want to be able to have a good relationship with the Sec of State, one in which they can talk back and forth honestly and openly, and have their ideas be given some consideration so that they can be partners in this government. A "yes" vote makes this a little more possible than a "no" vote.
In other words, they had nothing to gain by voting "no."
---
The hard reality of the matter is, few votes in the senate are votes of conscious. It's a nasty dirty political game and all votes mean something other than a simple yes or no on a particular issue. This is why it's so difficult for a senator to be elected to the presidency - votes on some specific measure or another can always be used against them.

9. Same reason why the other Dems voted no |

It's hard to accept, but I've come to realize that our party is quite spineless. I don't know what to do. All of our leadership should be replaced, otherwise, what's the point?

10. It has worried me for some time that the MSM has treated him |
|
with kid gloves. If he were seen as a threat by them, they would go after him tooth and nail.
As bad as yesterday's vote was, his vote to certify the Ohio electors bothered me even more. How risky would it have been for an African American senator to take a stand on the deliberate disenfranchisement of Black and poor voters? Whatever political capital he thought he was protecting, if such is the case, surely he would have been given a pass for doing the right thing on such an issue, even if it was his first vote in the Senate.
And what about our other Democratic senators? Is Barbara Boxer the only one willing to take a stand on such a basic issue as the right of every voter to have his or her vote counted?
Pathetic.
