Take comfort - the truth is our ally. |
|
We may feel depressed about our nation and about the wrong direction we have gone, but we should feel heartened that we do have the truth on our side, and that in the end, the truth will prevail. No matter how things turn out in Iraq, it is all based on a lie. We invaded a country and have killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and the world looks at us in dismay and disagreement. That is the truth.
It doesn't matter that the neo-cons are trying to re-write history to cover their criminal tracks. The truth is always there - looking at them and wagging its finger in disapproval. It doesn't matter that the media act as cheerleaders and help the war mongerers paint their glorious patriotic pictures, the truth has them in its sights also.
It is depressing to watch the celebration of criminals, even those where 50% of the people agree with the criminals and put them back into the White House. That does not change the truth. It is only a temporary detour. Smile. The truth will win the final battle.

2. I am sorry, but the truth is not enough and it is dangerous to believe so |
|
The truth has let those who know it down time and time again. In our day and age the truth is not imperitive it is perceived. Unforunatley it is those who understand that what is more important than the truth is peoples perception of the truth are those whos desires go directly against what is right. What must happen is that those of us who believe that must stand up and scream. Shout until we cannot be ignored. We need to be will to give up some of that which we hold dear in our lives, but never give up our ideals and know that we can not remain comfortable and complacent.
Martin Niemöller: In Germany they came first for the Communists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a communist. Then they came for the Jews and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me - and by that time, there was no one left to speak up.

That helps.
Keeping our eyes on truth and the future beyond Bush is the only way to get through the next four years without going completely mad.

6. Time to face reality Kentuck. |

It does matter that the nation is going in the wrong direction. The truth is not on our side as the Neo-cons are busy re-writing it.
There is no guarantee that the "truth will win the final battle". Those growing up right now do not know the difference, and the conservative agenda taught in schools will teach them the lies.
It does matter that the media is acting as cheerleaders to support the stupidity of this administration and the war in Iraq. This is why that asshole is entering his next 4 year term.
It does matter that christian war-mongers are painting this war as patriotic, glorious, and just.
This is not a temporary detour. Govt, Business, and the Military are all working together right now to increase their power as a group. This is called FASCISM. The fact that we have Christian cheerleaders singing the praises of their leader and placing their moral stamp of approval on his efforts is even more odious. This religious / political / economic abomination is not going to freely relinquish power.
It all matters Kentuck. Our responsibility is to speak the truth, and to make changes wherever we can. If we blindly trust some factious act of providence to magically correct this situation without any effort on our part, then nothing will matter. We will all be fucked.

More people have died violently in the name of "God" than in any other name in history. And what is ironic about that is the founders and original leaders of most monotheistic religions where again all violence. In is the greed self-rightous "followers" that distort the teachings of a lot of great men.

You would be amazed at how many fundamentalist churches in this area teach "Constitutional Law" in their Sunday schools. You would believe that most fundies around here are actually lawyers.
I call this new religious morality "greed with a halo".

10. Sorry if my reply sounded harsh. |

If it did, it truly was not directed at you. My frustrations lie with the demons who are taking control of our country today.
