Bush said "Freedom must be chosen...and realized through the rule of law"
What happened to:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

?

That sounds more like Freedom than what I'm hearing described today.

Why is this "Liberty" that is so important to Bush so dependent on the "rule of law"? Seems freedom is more of an unfettered ideal, much more so than the controlled society that Bush seems to have in mind.

Can freedom or democracy be imposed on another from without, by force and the rule of law?

I thought it had to be the person's own idea, that it must arise from within and be something that the person is willing to fight and die for.. like it once was for Americans in the colonies of 1776.
