Wilson-Rove Affair: Conservative Disinformation Begins
There is a new article on the Wilson-Rove Affair in the American Daily, a hyper-conservative publication out of Ohio <http://www.americandaily.com/item/2437>. Some have been suggesting on this board that the right would use Al Martin's shadily-sourced article <http://www.conspiracyplanet.com/channel.cfm?channelid=2&contentid=933> to misdirect attention from the facts of the case, thereby discrediting the entire story.

Could this be the first salvo?

This writer for the American Daily goes even further, however, in saying that he can find no evidence that Joseph Wilson ever said that Rove was involved! No evidence of the forum in which he said it!

For those who still haven't seen it, here it is: <http://www.house.gov/inslee/meetings.htm>

Wilson's comments come about 80 minutes in.

Looks like classic disinformation to me. The writer from the American Daily writes as if Al Martin is the only person reporting on this story. Granted, the major media haven't touched it, but it appeared on several blogs first, including this one. <http://markarkleiman.blogspot.com/2003_08_01_markarkleiman_archive.html>

1. Welcome, I hope your name does not represent the true you.
(mountebank-a boastful pretender.) I haven't read all this info. Don't do rightwing site. I get nauseated easily. Anything that takes down rove is good for me. He and his group have ruined Texas and are leading the U.S. in the same direction.

3. Interesting Post
Thanks for the welcome, I guess.

Those who have been discussing the Wilson-Rove story are interested to know how Al Martin's article will play out. As one of three articles that comes up when you Google News search under Wilson and Rove, and the first new article printed in days, I think the story from the American Daily is worth noticing, though certainly not worth spending a lot of time worrying about or responding to. It is also interesting because it bolsters the predictions of some DUers that Martin's article will be used to discredit the whole story.

Yes, anything that brings down Rove would be good. But to bring him down you need something solid. Martin's story doesn't appear to be, and it scares me when it starts getting picked up and reported in the right-wing press. Wilson's statements and the potential for an investigation are solid - this is what we should concentrate on. Not Karl Rove's dubious Nazi connections.

I'm sorry that you get nauseated, but I like to keep an eye on what they're saying.

2. swimming upstream
between banks full of grizzlies. That's what it is like trying to get fascts out the rightists don't like. The truth only has limited and prejudicial access to the bannerline major league media. Unless the whole American public knows it already. The rest of the world does not count however.

Then they blanket the internet forums with counter rubbish. Don't tell me the CIA whistleblowers are as much boy scouts as the Democrats in Congress? If it wasn't a matter of time and people dying daily I'd have complete confidence in eventual victory.
