Anybody got a link to the George Will "Banana Republic" comment? |
|
I want to send it around and point out that even the most rigid Conservative A**holes think Georgie is a little too out there.

2. It was a priceless moment.... |
|
even David Brooks, who had just finished being "Mr. Upbeat Bush Toady," quietly agreed that the motorcade security was over the top.

3. Of course, now they're using that to argue... |

that maybe they should get rid of the inauguration parade (thanks to the "security problems"). Hmmm. Funny...we didn't HAVE the "security problems" until...guess when? Any reasonable person would say it's cause and effect.

5. Yes, and every once in while, someone would.... |
|
half-heartedly throw in a comment that this borderline military junta display was due to our "post-9/11 times." Yeah, right. The SWAT teams were there to protect the Emperor from his own subjects.
George Will's "solution" was that Bush's limo should have driven to the White House at 30 MPH. I suppose that would make it easier to ignore the protestors.

He said it during Bush's trip from the Capitol Bldg. to the White House. He also said:
military operation unworthy not attractive banana republic
He also said that if this was the way it was going to be done, they should "just get in the car and drive 30 miles an hour".
It was wonderful. During the ABC 6:30 p.m. news, he repeated the remark about a banana republic.
