What does "freedom" mean?
What does bush mean when he says "freedom?"

What does that word mean to him?

What does it mean to you?

What is it?

Freedom to what?

1. Don't overanalyze. I know it when I see it
and I don't see it when Bush holds US citizens permanently without trial, tortures, invades countries on his own authority, coddles up to the Saudis, Pakistanis and Putins.

3. One word and one word only:
Death.

I was thinking the same thing as you. What does it mean? In the eyes of * anyway.

Not freedom to be individuals, they want their conformity.

Corporate freedom, maybe. But all corporations do is cheat, lie, steal, and exploit. I sure as hell would not want to defend any of that immoral shit.

I dunno.

Nothing good anymore, it seems.

and what channel to watch on one of two cable providers. the freedom to choose which clear channel station you want to listen to, and which right-wing raving asshole you get to hear on your way to work. freedom to choose visa over mastercard. freedom to worship jesus in the church of your choice. freedom for teachers to coerce public schoolchildren to pray. freedom from contraception, and freedom from the choice to have a safe, legal abortion. freedom to cheer for the football team of your choice. freedom to choose between eight thousand kinds of potato chips. freedom to have a big mac instead of a whopper.

freedom to be exactly the way your would-be masters want you to be.

6. To him it means
compliant and complacent workers and consumers, and no pesky human rights or environmental regulations to get in the way of ever-increasing corporate profits. Freedom for unrestrained capitalism, basically.

To me: freedom to grow up safe, healthy, and educated, and then to participate in equal control of your community, from local to global levels.

Pity some of them turned and became the filth in power today.

11. Freedom means economic freedom, not personal freedom.
Freedom from taxes, tariffs, consumer/worker protections, environmental regulations, etc. - absolute unfettered free-market capitalism - primarily for BUSINESSES/CORPORATIONS.

Bush freedom is the freedom to do business with the U.S. corporation of your choice.

It is the freedom to exploit--not freedom from exploitation.
