I watched my local news...
I know, it's pointless. I saw the coverage of the parade on ABC - protesters throwing things at the cars, cops knocking them back with mace and what appeared to be small water cannons. I saw a fire on the protestor side of the fence that was never explained. I heard the boos and the sound of very unhappy people.

So, what does my local (Houston) news say? They talk about the wonderful balls, show some clips of the shrub's speech, show a clip the minister during the prayer. Then they show a few quick glimpses of "unruly" protestors with signs, not anywhere near the parade route. They say that some protestors were on the parade route, but not enough to have an impact.

:wtf:

There was an entire street of people that kept the shrub in his car. They were pissed off, and they were letting the world know. As soon as they turned the corner, shrub and pickles got out and walked and waved, like all was well. The crowd was chanting "Four More Years". Hey idiots, he's in, find a new fucking chant.

Even Peter Jennings was commenting on the impact that the crowd was making, saying that it was not the normal atmosphere of celebration that you normally see at this event. He commented on the "WWF Announcer" who was on the PA repeating things like how lucky we are to have such a great leader. He said it was creepy. He said that the procession looked like a military operation, not a parade.

Was I dreaming today at work while I stuffed invoices into envelopes? The little TV in the office seemed to be showing me those things. I don't understand how they can ignore the voice of the PEOPLE.

2. I decided not to watch the news tonight since my local news is
out of Dallas so I feel your pain in Houston.

BTW, I like your name!

4. I wasn't watching for the shrub coverage
I was watching the story about the Houston cop who got sentenced today...they moved on to shrub. That was just entirely lame. I figured they'd show the most unruly protestors and say something that would be interpreted as "those damn libruls".

As for the name, thanks!

3. I rather enjoyed George Will's remarkable remark:
"This is like something you'd see in a Banana Republic." Mr. Will was clearly not amused. Ironic, really, since George Will has been one of the many sycophants who made this all possible...

5. I know...that cracked me up
I about fell out of my chair earlier though. Mind you, I was at work, so I was listening to the drivel of the speech (missed most of it, but caught last 10 minutes or so). When they were in the holding room waiting to go to the next place, they were naming people that were in the room. They slipped and said Boxer was in there. I immediately looked up, just as they corrected themselves. It was Pelosi, not Boxer. My only thought was "Why the hell would he even want to be in the same room as Barbara Boxer?"...I was so relieved to see Pelosi standing there.
