IMO, it was a lame attempt at a 'MLK' inspiration....but, as usual, bush* was a TOTAL FAILURE....

anyhow, I count 28 times using the word 'freedom'...but, I may have missed a few because the hour is late....

President Bush's Inaugural Address
'There Is No Justice Without Freedom'
Federal News Service
Friday, January 21, 2005; Page A24

The full text of President Bush's second inaugural address:

-snips-

From the perspective of a single day, including this day of dedication, the issues and questions before our country are many. From the viewpoint of centuries, the questions that come to us are narrowed and few. Did our generation advance the cause of freedom? And did our character bring credit to that cause?

These questions that judge us also unite us, because Americans of every party and background, Americans by choice and by birth, are bound to one another in the cause of freedom.

We go forward with complete confidence in the eventual triumph of freedom. Not because history runs on the wheels of inevitability; it is human choices that move events. Not because we consider ourselves a chosen nation; God moves and chooses as He wills. We have confidence because freedom is the permanent hope of mankind, the hunger in dark places, the longing of the soul.

1. Please
Ask the people in Iraq what freedom is and they still don't know. They can't make up their kind which is worse. Saddam bullying them, or a president from another country throwing their leader out just so our troops can bully them around and kill them, and physically torture and abuse them. Please. BUSH makes me sick! He makes me so sick i want to throw up all over him and his screwed up cabinet.

2. You are right
They just had it on 'The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart'. He also used Liberty like 17 times. Like those things mean anything to this neocon.

4. What a pompous style.
Trying to sound like the King James Bible. That speech is not going to age well. Even when the sentiment is good, it sounds phony.

6. Reminds me of a Kris Kristopherson line
"Freedom's just another word when there's nothing left to lose......"

The more Bush uses it, the more meaning it loses.

7. Platitudes
I have to give him credit - the Chimp is skilled at delivering platitudes to the masses.

He's far too stupid to think logically or with any originality - this is all he has.
