Free Speech/Press question. |
|
Something worth discussing here.
How free should you think our speech and press be? Should we be fairly unrestricted - as the current internet allows, able to print anything online, or should there be controls a la European governments censoring certain subjects (such as anti-government ANYTHING)?
I'm talking extremes here, too...extreme Communism (which actually is freer now here in the states and abroad) or Nazism (which is very close to being banned in Europe).
Are our freedoms of speech and press suppressed in any manner, and how?

Speech needs to be 100% free. I hate hate speach, but if thats what you think then why aren't you allowed to say it? Slander and Libel not withstanding, there should be NO limits on what you are allowed to say, as what you say is a logical extention of what you think, and we should never, ever attempt to deny people the right to think, even if they are morons :D
