"Cheney Puts Iran at Top of Trouble List"
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush refuses to rule out war with Iran. Iranian President Mohammad Khatami says his country is ready to defend itself against a U.S. attack. The United States is pushing for a peaceful solution to its nuclear impasse with Iran but, with mistrust on both sides running high, encouraging signs are hard to find.

"You look around the world at potential trouble spots, Iran is right at the top of the list," Vice President Dick Cheney said Thursday in an interview with radio host Don Imus, hours before being sworn in to a second term.

5. Drip, drip, drip. The softening-up continues.
Remember how, after Afghanistan, the mantra began, quite quiet at first? "Iraq ... Iraq ... Iraq". Now it's "Iran ... Iran ... Iran".

The endless incredulity that I had to deploy ... Britain won't involve (we did). America won't buy it (most did). Blair won't stick with it (he did). The UN will kill it (they didn't). Britain won't go in without UN approval (we did). We wouldn't go in without a fixed exit date (we did). Parliament will kill it (they didn't). The inspecotrs will find nothing (they never had the chance).

We won't go in after 1,100,000 Britons simultaneously protest the war - the largest protest in British history by a factor of four. Oops, we're in. Now it's the same.

7. I put Cheney at the top of the trouble list.
And I'm not even Iranian, nor do I have any connection to Iran whatsoever.
