We're stepping off into a new world today

From here, if the weather is any indication of the future, it doesn't look good. It's cold, foggy, drizzle, hard to see which direction things are going.
Somehow, today I feel completely impotent, unable to stop this thing hurtling at me, and even though I've braced myself for impact I'm afraid of being bowled over, and swept aside.

I just get the bad feeling that there isn't a whole hell of a lot we can do to stop this, and we're going to be taking some big bad lumps in the days ahead.

To say I'm scared isn't strong enough, I hope we all get through this safely, but, I'm not very optimistic.
