4. they didn't just edit it out?
sounds odd if it really did happen - its not like leno is done live, if it was taped earlier in the day why wouldn't they have just edited the question out all together instead of cutting to commercial?

11. I think Leno's got way too much power for
that, so all they could do was cut it short.

6. I was curious
because Garner just comes off as a 'likable' guy. I know nothing about his politics, so I did a search and found this.

James Garner is still a maverick

By ANGELA DAWSON, Entertainment News Wire

HOLLYWOOD -- Had it not been for his contempt for politics, James Garner might have become a congressman or a governor -- maybe even president.

In the early 1960s, members of California's Republican nominating committee approached the charismatic actor to run for Congress. Only one problem: Garner was, and still is, a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat.

"They called my business manager to find out if I'd be interested in running on the Republican ticket, and he kinda laughed and said, 'Mr. Garner's on location,'" recalls the 76-year-old Oklahoma native. "He asked me anyway, and I said no."

Years later, Garner was approached by his own party to run for governor. Garner considered it for "about three seconds" and again declined. "I don't like politics," he says in his distinctive, folksy drawl.

"I don't like most politicians," he continues over the phone from his home. "You can't trust them. And you're not going to be a good politician unless you throw your own values out the window. You gotta compromise. And I don't compromise much."

..more..

-the article also says Garner fought in Korea where he was wounded and received two Purple Hearts.

15. I saw him say that it was a sad day today and then
Leno said so I take it you are not a Republican and he replied, "noooooo." Or something to that affect.

Where in the country located?--As it doesn't sound like we got to see the same thing?

You know, time delayed tapings and all of that...

have, always will! I saw him on Tavis Smiley once and he said he thought the Iraqi war should not have been.

A beautiful Democrat!

19. Gotta love those liberal men
Really. I saw him in that "Murphy" movie on TV not long ago with Sally Field. The man was still (and still is) sexy in his 60s. The liberal viewpoint definitely helps. I notice Bruce Willis isn't aging so well. And Tom Selleck now looks like Wilford Brimley.
