Meanwhile back in California.........
WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR ANOTHER DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE TO COME HERE AND STAND BY GRAY DAVIS' SIDE

Camera pans to the rest of the democratic field. There's a slight wistful breeze blowing a tumbleweed across an empty landscape

SOUND: <crickets chirping>

VO: Ben Stien : anyone...........anyone?
:nuke:

1. Yet another example of why I support Dean
I forget who said it, but voters want candidates they know will fight for them. More than anything else, THAT's why I support Dean. I was really impressed with Kerry at the debates, he reminded me a lot of JFK. The thing is though, I just don't get the feeling he (or very many of the other cand's.) will fight for what he believes in. I am no longer willing to stand by and watch my country be hijacked by a bunch of knuckle-dragging republicans.

(LeftCoast climbs down off of his soap-box) :)

3. My husband likes Kerry
and that suits me just fine. I like Kerry too. But as I've said many times, I'll support anyone but Bush.

Now a big thank you to Dean for standing by Gray Davis's side.

I think that Dean is projecting a very macho image. Democrats have not done that in a long time. As a female Democrat, I think it's time we made the Republicans stop taking the white male vote for granted.

5. I'm hoping for all nine. And then some.
I should note that Sharpton gave a very good speech against the recall a bit ago in the bay area. All should be here. I'm hoping that in the final three weeks, we see a blitz like no other. We're planning for it. Labor, communities of color, Democrats, progressives, all must come together! We need both Clintons, white house candidates, US senators, everyone!

I believe Edwards appeared with Davis at an event in mid July
(the 17th maybe) at which he criticized the recall, and it got almost no coverage in the media.

Face it, the only person who's going to get guaranteed TV time is Dean right now.

Actually, Sharpton got pretty good coverage when he was hear.

I'm sure, like Dean, others will have CA fundraisers and will make statements in the next four weeks. Will the media be there, though?

6. Dean scored some points
with me on this one.

Whatever one may think about Davis the ramifications of this recall effect the entire nation. It isn't just about CA. Dean seems to get that.

I've had one subthread with more than 20 posts about the recall and that's enough for me, so I'll just tell you to look at my sig to find my opinion on the recall.

One wonders what the litmus test would be since it uses the same tactics.

11. so far i have written to Dean, kerry and Gephart
as I come across theie address . I inform them that their presence IS REQUIRED in Calif. the first week in Oct(per Willie Brown).Ant that personal ambitions must be put on hold, but that they will be rewarded come primaries."This one is for California" I tell them. I guess Dean got the message. We want an old fashioned whistlestop tour of Ca. by all the candidates, the Clintons, Gore, Jesse. suck all the air out of Arnolds' media campaign

13. While we're on the subject...
Where are all the Democratic US representatives from California? I'm a little disappointed that they haven't made a pilgrimage back to California to stump with Gray Davis. Press releases buried in the back pages of newspapers don't cut it.

18. We have to stop this damn "fear, trembling, hiding"
..that's why Dean is kicking these guys butts (and I'm not a Dean supporter). POINT BLANK: If we lose CA to the repukes, it's over for all these boys in '04. Why....because we lost our asses in '02 and were a laughing stock of the nation. If we lose the most liberal state in the Union to repukes, there will be repukes dancing in the streets and reminding Americans that the goddamn liberals/Dems are finally dead, dead, dead. And that will just finish us in '04. They need to go out there and just keep repeating the message that the repukes are trying to overthrow their election and get a repuke take over so that "voting" can be directed from a repuke gov's mansion in '04. They have to be told that they are being attacked, and played for fools by Bush and that the repukes don't give a damn about their problems, they just want their hands on CA's voting machinery!!!

23. There is no danger of California going Republican any time soon
Based on past history that won't happen for at least another 8 - 10 years. We're presently at the extreme Democratic end of the roughly 20-year cycle.

21. I'm finally a single issue voter
I will not support any candidate with time, money, or a vote who doesn't come to Cali and oppose this recall. This is about democracy, standing up for our beliefs, and not letting a democrat suffer for this maladministrations theft of our economy. I know the current strategy is to ignore Cali, but we Need you here now.

In the general, sadly I'm ABB. My entusiasm and sense of hope is gone if the Dem who wins the primary hasn't made a stand to support Davis.

By the way, I do not like Davis. I recognize the right wing power grab and the insult to voters. I'm working for no on recall and feel more passionately against the recall than I have for any candidate, except Gore.
