And much of the nation lets a total misuse of the word tyranny slide?
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 10:48 AM by K-W
Now Tyranny is just another word for evil, which is now just a vague conspiricy of outsiders to destroy America.

Is this how far we have come? Is this the same nation that created the bill of rights?

When the word Tyranny has lost any real meaning, our constitution might as well have never been written.

2. At least china and the soviet union were truely tyranical...

even if the propaganda was far from honest about the nature of tyranny.

In this case we have the word being so grossly misaplied that it must now have no meaning at all.

3. Much of the nation is disconnected from reality
people don't think anymore and most don't know the meaning of the word tyranny. Most have never read the Constitution and don't care to - they'd rather watch the latest reality show on TV.

When will we wake up from this nightmare?

4. well, they let the misuse of the word 'freedom' slide, too
because it's not really freedom the chimp is speaking of, but rather the freedom to be tyrannical.

6. Well, he intends the proper definition, that definition is just a lie.
He is trying to sell the idea that he is fighting for freedom. What bothers me about the tyranny comments is that clearly he is not using the word to mean what it actually means, or at least not a primary definition of the word. If they push this use of the word it will completely eliminate the actual primary definition of the word, which is when one man rules a government.

8. understood, but they do this constantly
The so-called War on Terror and War on Drugs have attempted to redefine the word 'war'.

They have redefined the word 'patriot', to mean mindless flag waving drone.

They have redefined 'liberation' to mean 'occupation'.

The list goes on and on.

I agree with you that they are trying to redefine the word, but I'm also saying that this practice is S.O.P.

5. The 'can't have justice without freedom' thing pissed me off.
It works the other way, actually. We aren't free so long as Justice is twisted, subverted and held without charges or access to a lawyer because she was deemed to be an unlawful combatant by a band of war criminals and money grabbing thugs.

But then, they want to bring their version of freedom to several other nations before they are done. Gotta sell that 'freedom' thing.

7. Yah, that is an odd statement.

I guess the message behind is that we shouldnt expect to have justice until after we have conquered the world?
