Dick Army on PBS - I had forgotten what an asshole he is
He's talking about privatizing SS. Jeez, sometimes I think WV is backwards but good God is every politician in Texas a redneck bully?

2. Isn't he a Ecomonist with a PhD?
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 09:00 PM by RobertSeattle
He has some famous quote regarding the Clinton tax hike (on the rick) back in 1993 predicting a major economic collapse. Credibility? Zero.

He's just a well paid Lobby Whore now.

BTW - found this 2003 slate piece on Armey

http://slate.msn.com/id/2076510/

"Dick Armey seems bent on leaving Congress with a reputation as a tribune of the people. As Mickey Kaus points out, Tony Blankley made a fool of himself on The McLaughlin Group by praising Armey for "not going into lobbying," when in fact Armey just started work at Piper Rudnick, a D.C. law firm, as a "senior policy adviser," which is French for "lobbyist." Where could Blankley have gotten his misinformation? Most likely from Armey himself, if Armey's outlandishly self-serving op-ed in the Jan. 8 Wall Street Journal, headlined, "Citizen Armey," is any guide. The piece (which nowhere mentions that Armey will work at Piper Rudnick) trumpets Armey's excitement at becoming the co-chairman of Citizens for a Sound Economy, a right-wing think tank. "I hope to disprove the widely held belief that ex-politicians can never again become productive members of society," Armey boasts. Running CSE (with C. Boyden Gray, former White House counsel during the first Bush administration) will be "a primary occupation of my time," whatever that means. Armey describes CSE as a "grassroots powerhouse."

3. He made the "Barney Fag" comment, too
<snip>
Armey had a bumpy start, but he attributes his eventual acceptance to creating the independent process for closing military bases. Armey said he accomplished that with "hand-to-hand persuasion."

"I was profoundly aware that most bum raps we (the GOP) were getting were borne out of our demeanor," Armey said. "I think I got better at that after the 1996 elections."

That realization came too late for a moment in Armey's career that he can't escape, his 1995 referral to Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank, an openly gay Democrat, as "Barney Fag."

Armey maintains it was a slip of the tongue, but Frank, who allied with Armey on the base-closing measure, never accepted the explanation.

6. Just look at what his name is
talk about self-fulfilling prophecy. Not that I would normally say anything about a person's name, but in his case, it is justified. He is a dick and deserves to be called one. Actually, he is rather like a whole army of them.

7. Oh, Don't ever forget that! Taught Econ. at North TX State Univ.
I was on a flight with him and was amazed that he actually looks human in person. This was about 12 years ago so I can't vouch that he's not now one of those lizard people who control us earthlings.

He is the grand daddy of offensive conservatism. I believe he pre-dated Gnewt. Just to understand how badly the TX Repukes screwed Martin Frost, they stuck in largely in the old district that elected and really liked Army.
