We will get our freedom and our democracy back
when the Internet & similar "amateur" news outlets become the primary vehicles for disseminating information to the majority of Americans. This may not happen until the Internet grows up a bit more, which will involve "broadband" actually getting broad & widespread enough to carry reasonably high-quality amateur video. Then maybe some charismatic low-budget Trughout/Buzzflash-type people operating in the electronic commons will be able to render the big-time MSM Talking Heads irrelevant as sources of information. This presumes, of course, that there will continue to be an electronic commons.

In other words, if we can keep the Net (and its technological successors) free, we will win.

1. Flash Videos already play well with almost no loading time.
with our existing broadband.

For an example, watch "Deserters for Bush."

2. Sound theory.
and you're right. it's only a matter of time. as technology gets cheaper and increasingly ubiquitous the scenario you describe almost a certianty.

It reminds me of the call that went out for mediaphiles to contribute to Al Gore's project...

4. "Freedom" and "democracy" really does require "sacrifice",...
,...it's simply a far different sacrifice than that defined by our own pro-corporate, anti-democracy, psy-ops, "tyrants".

An INFORMED populace will ultimately overcome this tyranny,...a tyranny which is fighting against an "informed consent" every, single day knowing "the people" will disempower their tyranny.
