Did Margaret Thatcher support the Iraq war? |
|
I had been hearing from people--though I have no links or citations--that Maggie Thatcher opposed the Iraq War and that she was privately very critical of Tony Blair's handling of the whole Iraq matter.
I have always thought that Thatcher was more of a traditional realist when it came to foreign policy--a hard-liner to be sure, given her cozy relationship with such despots like Pinochet--and not a neo-conservative.

4. Well, if that's true, good for Maggie |

I know I'm a minority here, but I won't be crying in my beer if the Tories win this Spring (though I prefer the Liberal Democrats).

5. Thatcher is an evil, mad old hag |

And and thankfully no-one here gives a fuck what she says about anything. She and her buddy Reagan had their go at fucking up the world and the UK is still paying for it. She and The Chimp would have got along like a house (or possibly a world) on fire.
The Tories would be a disaster for this country if they got in. Fortunately they don't have a prayer (although they'd be praying on TV if they thought it would help). What we need is a Labour/Lib Dem alliance because Bliar no longer even pretends to believe in Socialism and we need someone to pull him away from Bush's arse.

6. Magpie said THAT?!?!?! |
|
:wow:
Her policies, as seen rather liberally during the 1980s, are an abhorrence to the civilized world. But that came as a HUGE shock to me.

2. I'm not sure she's lucid enough to have an opinion on it. |
|
I believe she is in the opening stages of some form of dementia.
Well, further along, I should say...

3. You can be sure her opposition isn't for humanitarian reasons. |
|
Her past actions would disprove that.

Or at least urged Bush the Elder too do so.
