3. "Nixon's the One"
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 12:46 AM by MarianJack
When he was first in office, my mom would not let me buy a poster that showed a VERY pregnant African American lady in profile with a "Nixon's the One" button. Being early in his term, around 1969, the lady had a HUGE Afro hairdo.

What can I say, I was only 13. It was the ole' "My house, my rules" thing. Of course, I couldn't wait to say that to HER when I bought my first house!

4. It Was Great.
You know, rsmith6621, I remember a Time or Newsweek article from early '73 that said that life had never been better for Richard Nixon. About a month later, the Watergate sh*t storm started.

That was when Dems had some balls and republicans weren't all a bunch of neo fascists.

I hate to say it but I don't think Bush is going anywhere.

6. It also helped that at least some people in the media had cojones.
Now that the B.F.E.E. owns the media and even has Bob Woodward's nuts in a jar, we can't expect any serious criticism of the Reich.

13. Maybe I'm totally loosing it, but if Thursday is any indication...
There are a whole lot of really pissed off people in this country! When Peggy Noonan thinks he's out to lunch it says to me that the wind is changing direction. She is such a loyal (to a fault) repuke! Her asking questions is a major shift!

8. When I was a kid I found a button
that said Nixon No. Later on I found out it was a popular alteration to a Nixon Now button.

9. I have this huge vintage Nixon poster and my wife wonders why
I also have one of those Nixon Bowling posters. My wife can't understand why a dyed in the wool Democrat would have anything with Nixon on it. Frankly, I think Nixon's story is a great one. To come back from '60 to win the presidency in '68, to go to China, do some good things for the environment, etc. - he was a decent president - until the love of power got to him and then, of course, Watergate.

He is a great reminder for our times. Yes, a "Nixon '72 / Bush '04" bumper sticker would look nice on my car. The only difference is Bush hasn't done anythig good for his country.
