So we are racist?
Let's see...Gonzales and Rice.
Our side asks pointed questions and we are racist according to the talking heads?

Why is it so difficult for the repubs/neocons/cons(whatever) to understand that THEY are the ones throwing in the race topic?

Unbelievable!

2. I think Democrats (if they have any spine left) should use the 'pug spin
Accuse the GOP of racism if they don't go for affirmative action. O'Reilly screams about how racist it is that Dems oppose Gonzales based on his record? Invite O'Reilly step down and let a non-white woman take his seat and call him a racist if he refuses.

5. EXACTLY! The problem is that we do not have
any spokesperson to go on MSM with that message. The GOP is the most racist group ever, even including the KKK under its ten, yet who on our side ever mentions this?

All that has to be done is to turn the tables on THEIR accusations.

But you know what? The Repubs infiltrated us over a decade ago and gained great power at the top, decision-making levels of the party. By doing the same thing to the Democratic Party that they did when they invaded Iraq. Just turn the whole thing into chaos, into shambles...let it all implode and be there to claim to be in charge. Who ever chose the DLC to be the "voice of the Democratic Party?" They "TOOK" that power themselves and none of us complained. Now, because their job is to KEEP US from winning...you hear no dissent from them at all.

3. If there's a lame, superficial angle to be worked, the reThugs'll work it
"They're giving our darker-skinned neocons a hard time! RACISTS!"

Sad thing is, there are enough yahoos who'll play along to make it work. doesn't mean we don't keep on hammering, of course.

4. It is just spin.
People are not paying attention. They don't know Rice's and Gonzales's record. All they will hear is the RW spin, "dems are racist". And some will believe because they saw it on TV so it must me true. Sad, but perfectly predictable.

Which talking heads are flogging this angle?

7. Anyone remember
the "Democratic South"? That all ended the day Johnson signed the Civil Rights Bill.

Tell me that the Dem's are racist!

9. I'll agree about Republicans...
Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 11:48 AM by Jackie97
but since I'm not one, who cares?

No, asking pointed questions is not racist.

What's racist is to pretty much portray somebody as a "bad black person" for being Republican.

This comes in the form of calling them a house N word, a white wannabe person, brown sugar, and other things.

That's basically saying "Good black people are Democrats". To me, that's pretty much the white people telling black people what they should and shouldn't be doing.

My race and social justice professor said that when one said something like "Shove it up your black a**", then they were being racist because instead of insulting somebody for their actions, they made it a black issue.

Well, this is the same. We should insult Rice and Powell for what they do; not for doing them "as black people" or "as Hispanics".
