How do we get Bob Novak and
implicate the White House bribing him with taxpayers money?

I saw Novak briefly as I was channel surfing yesterday and he told a lie about Howard Dean's bid for DNC chairman not being popular with ordinary Democrats.

He gets that strange look on his face when he knows he's lying like when he implicated Iraq as having a hand in 9-11. It suddenly occurred to me that he is getting White House payola, like Armstrong Williams, I'll bet.

How do we find this out? Can we demand access to his bank accounts under the freedom of information act? I think this is going on across the board. The White House is bribing MSM pundits if not the corporations themselves to spread disinformation.

It suddenly starts to make sense. You could call Bush a popular President with a straight face only if you stood to gain a lot from it.

2. I'd also like to know.
That whole Armstrong Williams debacle has been swept under the rug. WHY? Where are the supposed inquiring reporters? Who is squashing this story? I know there are others taking payola.

Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 12:17 PM by spanone
Armstrong will go under the rug with Valerie Plame. Then he will surface with a new job and a raise. Maybe a cabinet position.

3. i dont think thats our job
but just yesterday i wrote a letter of total outrage to msnbc about that Crowley witch and told them what i am going to tell you we must do.

There are only so many idiots out there and only so many republicans out there. there are only so many people watching FOX news. You can not get all those veiwers. how bout you stop trying to get them and try getting the people like me and others who just stopped wathing YOU all together. We would like to see the news without some pundit telling me what i think and what i know and what the president "really" said. or what is right or wrong. just report the news.

i was so pissed off. we all need to write to them everyday if necessary. NOT FOX. they are what they are. but the other two are going down that path. we are going to get screwed badly if we dont get on this.

now i am wondering do you think they only give ratings boxes to republicans?

should be digging into these things and publishing articles and books about it? This is how Nixon was brought down during the Watergate scandal.

your account can be accessed with a search warrant. But let's say we respect Novakula's privacy, we should be able to access WH records to find out what is being paid out and to whom. I'm sure the money gets laundered somehow, but a good auditor should be able to "follow the money".

How did Armstrong Williams get caught getting payola?

19. We should be able to access records on what happened to
the TRILLION dollars that somehow dissappeared at the hands of the Pentagon (I think), but apparently that can't be done either. The biggest theft in the history of the world, and nobody knows anything and nobody seems to care. Amazing.

21. Yes, you are so right.
There is so much that needs auditing. Why is no one stepping up to the plate to expose this administration? I think the money is being spread not only through the media but our Congress as well. Anyone who can get proof and/or a whistle blower could expose a really big scandal I think. I think Novak is a good place to start.

23. OK,
if there is some evidence (not just a question) of law-breaking, the authorities can certainly access records with a search warrant. sorry, I thought you were talking about private citizens.

I've got no disagreement about trying to access WH records at all. Good luck.

8. Most of what he says is HIS OPINION, and he's free to do that.
I know from experience. I worked for a medium sized company, and the jerk who did the stock market street news update at noon on CNBC (I don't remember his name anymore) had us in his headlights one day. He said "Word on the street is XXXX XXXXXXXXX is cooking the books, dealing in illegal goods, and maybe even working with the Mafia!" I was in the office of the COO when he called our attorneys. You can just imagin what he said!!!! The attorney's advised him that he couldn't do a thing because this idiot used the words "Word on the street". It's hearsay, and his opinion, so TS!

The only thing I can imagin you could get Novak on is deliberately outing Plame, but it's almost impossible to prove it was deliberate!

I agree with you on the kickbacks from the various Fed. departments, but without a whistle blower, I'm afraid we're up the creek with that too!

17. Opinion is one thing but out and out lying
and spreading disinformation has to be exposed by the opposition because the MSM isn't doing it. There should be someone on each of these news channels challenging him on his statements like Al Franken challenges Limbaugh and O'Reilly exposing their lies, but no one does and yet he is the worst one out there.

I think also Tweety Matthews should be investigated.

24. The way I understand it,
you can lie in political opinion. Otherwise, well, ask yourself, would we have our current president, do you think?

It's not up to the government to tell columnists what to write. Let other commentators do it, or let it stay undone. If we can't win in the marketplace of ideas, where can we win?

Armstrong Williams ring a bell?

No it's not up to them but it is happening with frightening regularity. We have gone from friends of republicans buying up all the media and stacking against us to the WH directly paying "journalists" to spread their propaganda.

Somehow you think this boils down to "a marketplace of ideas" (another RW meme, you seem to know a lot of them). It's just a marketplace period. Bought and sold, deals done, end of story.

thought the same myself and others--there is a thread--rumaging around for it here--will post in a sec--posters planned to file multiple Freedom of Information requests to go exactly after that info--it seems breathtakingly obvious now--like--how could I possibly not seen this before?

I'd like to start a propose candidates list but I don't know the world of conservative commentators well
Here's a few obvious possiblities:

Rush Limbaugh (perhaps also compensated with certain prescription medication)
Anne Coulter (sp) (who needs to do research when others are happy to do it for you)

12. I personally am not looking for research, but I hope I can
light a fire under those who have access to information and hope they will out this malfaesance. You never know, there could be Pulitzer Prize in it if a good writer can get the goods on this administration and expose it.

I think getting Novak is a good place to shine a light and expose the cockroaches.

22. Novakula's The Golden Boy Of CNNservative
I recently communicated with someone inside CNN and he admitted that no one scares and intimidates people at that poor excuse for a network more than Novak. He's the "executive producer" of several shows and the CNN brass...especially those in Washington are downright scared of the dude. He's got a lot of money and influence. It scares others, too.

I'm almost certain Novak gets something from this regime as he's never been one of their biggest supporters, but now chirps for them like Armstrong Williams. He's got this regime and CNNservative by the short-hairs cause he could expose a lot of the behind the scenes stuff...thus why he can strut like the peacock.

Novakula knows his days are numbered...his longtime collaborator, Roland Evans is long gone, and he is out of step with the new generation in Washington. This asshole is so spiteful he doesn't care who he takes down...and is even worse now since he knows his days are numbered and he's gonna go out with a bang.

34. FCC will be investigating Williams, also....
Senators Dorgan, D-N.D., and Ron Wyden, D-Ore asked the GAO to investigate whether any other federal agencies acted in a similar way by paying commentators to support this administration's policies.

The FCC is controlled by this administration but the GAO is known for thorough and more even handed investigations.

I saw a few minutes of that show yesterday too. (I used to watch all the time but I can't do politics yet since the election.) He was saying the Democrats have got to stop their partisinship and that the republicans are NOT partisan. That all the problems are caused by the Dems.

Shields looked incredulous then Hunt started laughing. They "cut" for a commercial and sound went dead but Novak started laughing.

He KNEW he was full of shit.

Like what Brock says of Ann Coulter.
