Lawmakers Demand President Bush to STOP Paying Journalists
to Promote Administration Policies

<snip>

Lautenberg, Kennedy, Reid Also Ask President If His Admin. Has Paid Other Journalists to Promote Other Policies, Including Social Security Privatization

WASHINGTON, DC -- In light of alarming news that the Bush administration paid a popular conservative radio commentator and columnist almost a quarter of a million dollars to skew his reporting to promote the No Child Left Behind Act, United States Senators Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ), Edward Kennedy (D-MA) and Harry Reid (D-NV) sent a letter to President Bush today demanding that he recover the money paid to Armstrong Williams, citing federal laws that prohibit such activity. In addition, the lawmakers also asked President Bush to disclose any payments to other journalists to push Administration policies, including President Bush's decision to privatize Social Security.

In news reports today, it was revealed conservative pundit and commentator Armstrong Williams was paid $240,000 to promote President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act on his syndicated radio program and in addition, to urge other pundits to routinely hype the law during their own appearances on other programs.

In their letter to President Bush, the Lawmakers cite federal laws that prohibit taxpayer funds from being spent by the Executive Branch for "Covert Propaganda". <snip> more......

Apparently, the Bush administration is paying journalists to promote their propagands. Now why isn't this on MSM?

1. Maybe, CM is afraid of being exposed as partners in propaganda.

Meanwhile, I believe the establishment of a pattern of misleading/deceitful/manipulative government-funded propaganda falls well within "high crimes and misdemeanors" and constitutes a breach of oath.

The neoCONimperialists MUST GO!!!!

3. Thank heavens for the resistance.
The republican influence on the MSM has gone too far. The fact that they are using taxpayer money to fund partisan agenda is criminal.

I feel the same way about School Vouchers, and Faith Based Initiatives. The Bushtapo is simply using taxpayer dollars to finance its election campaigns through the church's.

It is a fact that most Christians supported Bush. If they did not, would "Faith Based Initiatives", and "School Vouchers" still be a good idea? Of course not. No republicrap would support them if not for the political endorsement.

I really hope they ram it to the bushtapo with this one. Sooner or later, something has to stick. The fact that nothing has to date proves some gerrymandering in my mind.

5. High Crime Time?
Is not bribery enough of a high crime for impeachment? Is no crime high enough?

8. STP to Congress: Now THIS is an impeachable offense!
Bribery is explicitly mentioned in the Constitution as an impeachable offense. If the House won't impeach Bush for this flagrant crime, then I know the rule of law has degenerated into the rule of the lawless!

STP to Repukes in Congress: choose between the rule of law (impeach Bush) or the rule of tyranny (protect Bush)! The choice you make will determine whether or not you're an American (the former) or a nazi (the latter).
