Where can I find past violent crime statistics

I would like to put a chart or graph in one of my dissertation chapters showing the violent crime rates from about 1960 to the mid-1970's. Anybody know where I might find this information? I know the Justice Department website carries the recent information, but I need stats going back 30-40 years.

2. Thanks, but I don't see any information from the 1960's and 1970's.

That's what I need, and unless I'm missing something I don't see it there.

3. I didn't check to see if it went back that far.

They do publish hardcover copies from that era, so it might be worth asking your reference librarian about copies.
