Official "Guy James Show" thread......please keep kicked!
Hey gang, time for another show. 7 to 10 eastern is the time and www.theguyjamesshow.com is the place. If you are lucky enough to live in S.W. Florida tune in at WINK 1240AM in Ft. Myers and WNOG 1270AM in Naples, Marco Island.

I hope you'll spread the word to your cyber friends about the show. Its a new time and it will take a while to gain the maximum audience for that time slot. Please call in with your questions and comments. We need you to participate in order to have a great show. We are being followed closely by some important radio people and the more calls the better.

What did you think of the coronation this past week? Did Bush's speech suck or what?

1. Hi There!! The "27/15 Freedom and Liberty Speech"?
Y'a gotta keep up with where these guys are coming from. Boy! It sure sounded like a lot of "psyops propaganda" to me. But, there were traces of it in the 2001 speech. Very PNAC'ky!

-coreystone signing in SIR!

4. Sounded like Bush thought he was being made "president of
the world', not the US!!!

What an arrogant ass - telling other countries we will make them "free". He should start at home, some friends and I want to go to Cuba this spring!

His speech made me think about when I was a child, afraid that communism was going to take over the world. Now I'm worried that Bush will try to take over the world. He's an idiot and a disgrace to our country!

6. Freedom and Liberty will become the most abused words of..
this Presidency and this Democracy. They are being used as "buzz" words to gather the masses for his agenda; certainly very little to do with promoting democracy - ours or any one else's!

At this point it looks like Janis Joplin sang it right.

Very cool. If I can think of anything clever to say I'll call. If not just sit back, have a vodka tonic, and chill.

25. NOONAN on the * speech....

This world is not heaven.

The president's speech seemed rather heavenish. It was a God-drenched speech. This president, who has been accused of giving too much attention to religious imagery and religious thought, has not let the criticism enter him. God was invoked relentlessly. "The Author of Liberty." "God moves and chooses as He wills. We have confidence because freedom is the permanent hope of mankind . . . the longing of the soul."

It seemed a document produced by a White House on a mission. The United States, the speech said, has put the world on notice: Good governments that are just to their people are our friends, and those that are not are, essentially, not. We know the way: democracy. The president told every nondemocratic government in the world to shape up. "Success in our relations will require the decent treatment of their own people."

The speech did not deal with specifics--9/11, terrorism, particular alliances, Iraq. It was, instead, assertively abstract.

"We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands." "Across the generations we have proclaimed the imperative of self government. . . . Now it is the urgent requirement of our nation's security, and the calling of our time." "It is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in the world."

Ending tyranny in the world? Well that's an ambition, and if you're going to have an ambition it might as well be a big one. But this declaration, which is not wrong by any means, seemed to me to land somewhere between dreamy and disturbing. Tyranny is a very bad thing and quite wicked, but one doesn't expect we're going to eradicate it any time soon. Again, this is not heaven, it's earth.

26. Bush's 2001 speech sounded like the intro to 2005!!
snip<

"We will build our defenses beyond challenge, lest weakness invite challenge.

We will confront weapons of mass destruction, so that a new century is spared new horrors.

The enemies of liberty and our country should make no mistake: America remains engaged in the world by history and by choice, shaping a balance of power that favors freedom. We will defend our allies and our interests. We will show purpose without arrogance. We will meet aggression and bad faith with resolve and strength. And to all nations, we will speak for the values that gave our nation birth."

37. No, I just checked in about 30 minutes ago.
:hi:

No snow in so cal tonight; after a couple weeks of rain, snow, hail, and floods, we've got a false spring going. I spent the afternoon in shorts.

I'm listening from the other room, doing dinner and dishes.

39. Nostamj! Just got here and saw what you did to this photo! WONDERFUL.
It looks even more like a bunch of Republican wives "dancing the hula," as the source claimed about their National Convention photo op.

Those haughty, pompous faces look just as Republican as the original ones did. Is Santorum in there?

Good luck to you as you confront your snowstorm.

Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeastern U.S, attains an elevation of 6,288 feet above mean sea level, and is located at latitude 44° 16' N, longitude 71° 18' W. It's in Sargents Purchase in southern Coös County, New Hampshire, at the heart of the White Mountain National Forest. The 52-acre Mount Washington State Park surrounds the summit, where visitors will find a multitude of old and modern buildings, once known as the 'City Among the Clouds'.
