3. It allows the middle class to laugh at the lower class. Now if the show

had gone after corporate execs, it'd be a different (and infinitely more watchable) story.

I just think that there's more to it. I think it also engenders respect for the cops and teaches you that you will get caught.

6. Didn't Mad TV do a sketch about COPS busting into board rooms

and kicking in the doors of mansions.

4. It is one of my guilty pleasures.

Also, it is a fairly good source of information on police tactics and trickery and what not to do when you encounter the police.

It always amazes me how people give up theirs rights as soon as they are intimidated by "police 101" tactics.

7. COPS is nothing more than the right wing pushing their agenda

of glamourizing the police state we are heading into. They give the impression that every search of a vehicle turns up drugs or weapons, when in fact only a small percentage actually do, but they fail to ever show a search that turns up nothing. This gives the public the impression that searches are a good thing and allows them to push their agenda of more police power.
