Bush, 1999: "Let us not dominate others with our power!"

"The duties of our day are different. But the values of our nation do not change. Let us reject the blinders of isolationism, just as we refuse the crown of empire. Let us not dominate others with our power – or betray them with our indifference. And let us have an American foreign policy that reflects American character. The modesty of true strength. The humility of real greatness.

This is the strong heart of America. And this will be the spirit of my administration.

--- Governor George W. Bush, "A Distinctly American Internationalism," Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Simi Valley, California, November 19, 1999

1. That was when we knew he intended to dominate others
with OUR power.

Why? Because Bush lies. Bush always lies.

3. And in his debate with Gore . . .
He was openly contemptuous of the idea of "nation building." Spending federal money to build infrastructure in other countries was something only those bleeding heart liberal types did.

He. Makes. Me. So. Ill.

Much too late for that.

And I include domination on the domestic front.

5. Why don't the Fundies call him on his lies?
This time he campaigned on the Constitutional Amendment to outlaw Gay Marriage. After the election the whole thing was dropped. Why isn't his base pissed that the made false promises to them?
This must be why Cheney didn't seem too concerned about it. He knew ahead of time that it was just empty campaign rhetoric.

Don't get me wrong, I am glad he dropped it. The Constitution is too important to be used as a tool for hatred and bigotry. But those on the other side, who wanted it, don't they feel let down? Why do they still believe him? he screwed them!

7. Good post. It's good to be reminded
what sort of lying weasel words have come out of the word-hole on his stupid face. It may have been before the neo-crazies and the PNAC educated him.

8. He would sell his mother to win the election.
Come to think of it, why didn't he?

All he does is lie. From the moment he wakes up in the morning and looks at his face in the mirror, the lying starts. In the evening, when he's had a long day of lying to the press, lying to the public, lying to Laura, lying to his dad, he looks in the mirror and tells one last lie.

You can hear it on his voice when he talks. It's a voice that has been trained to tell untruths for decades. You don't even need to look at him. Just listen on the radio sometime.

He does it with a completely straight face. The eyes never blink. He doesn't wince, doesn't hang his head in shame like the rest of us who might feel bad about grotesquely lying. It's all out in the open. Feels no remorse.

It just - is. That's the way it is. That's - life.
