I couldn't avoid FUX news this past weekend
I was at an out of town conference. From the TV on at gas stations (on FUX of course) to the TV in the hotel lobby where I had to wait for another session to begin, to my roommate in the hotel room who insisted on watching it turned up to DEFCON 10, I found it hard to escape FUX from Thursday through today.

I don't even have satellite anymore and I never watched it anyway, so let me tell you, it was pretty shocking. And vomit-inducing.

My one-sentence analysis:

If FUX news were a person, it would be performing fellatio on bush nonstop.

Seriously. Propaganda Central. Every time I heard it (I avoided looking) it was "Oh here's the president taking the oath of office" (how many times did they re-play that?) and "who do you think will succeed him in 2008?" NO DISCUSSION OF DEM CANDIDATES. Nothing but "isn't he great?" NON-FREAKING-STOP. If anyone has ANY doubt as to the partisan slant of FUX news they need only not watch it for about a week or two, then turn it on. It would be obvious to anyone.

To make matters worse, I had no access to DU.

Talk about a bad weekend.

2. I remember that was always on in the Cafe of the junior college I went to.
I used to watch it and howl with laughter at the unhidden bias. I must have looked crazy.:D

3. My ten year old summed it up well
when he caught me watching Fux once and said, "Dad, don't you know watching that will make you stupid?"

5. SMART kid!!!!
The really bad part was, even when I was in control of the remote in the room, they didn't have that menu thing that we had when we had satellite so that I could just program FUX to not even show up on the menu and pass it right by. On this TV you had to surf THROUGH all the channels and I don't like seeing FUX for even a split second. I got to where I knew it was right after the History channel and right before some movie preview channel so I started going really fast at that point.

4. Whenever I'm forced to watch it....

which isn't often because I try to avoid it at all costs, I pretend it's funny. I mean, Fox's own TV show (The Simpsons) made fun of Fox news, in a parody of the station where a newsman said "70% of Democrats gay" and "Do liberals cause cancer?" Just to remind myself not to get too pissed off at utter ridiculousness.

6. Now you know why all the freepers
are brainwashed! Between POX and Limburger, they sadly don't stand a chance at any independent thought.

9. No SHIT!
A couple of times, I imagined myself being someone who didn't have any real strong opinions on political matters and for a teeny second, I could totally see how someone would just swallow all that bullshit up. They were really scary seconds.

On the other hand, I did see Dick Armey and Paul Krugman duke it out on PBS (I think?) and wow, I really like Krugman, whoever he is.

Dick Armey was, well, a dick.

8. How many times do they have to remind us
how fair and balanced they are? Seems a little over the top to the point of brainwashing. Some are finally getting it, several repug acquaintances I know are seeing it for what it is now, because it has crossed the line to propagandaland.Seems they are starting to migrate to the middle, as Faux get's more biased and hateful.

10. Hmmm
that makes me want FUX to get even MORE biased and hateful, then.

Kinda like how Fred Phelps coming to a town makes the townspeople suddenly rally around their gay community members. I don't like the underlying attitude of "HEY! THEY ARE OUR GAYS! LEAVE THEM ALONE!" like they own them or something, but the people get to see what hatred REALLY looks like and it makes them take a long, hard look at their own. Most of them end up tempering their opinions in the face of that.

So maybe I should hope that FUX just keeps going further down this road of self-destruction and complete yellow "journalism."

11. EXACTLY...I mean 2nd headline on Friday on Good
Morning America was SPONGEBOB!....It's similar to the blind grabbing a gun and shooting it at their feet. Too easy a target to miss, but in the end they've shot themselves.

12. I go to http://www.foxnews.com/
to vote on their poll daily. Surprising how often the leading vote favors a more liberal slant. Of course this is the online version. Doubt if many TV Fux viewers know how to operate a computer.

15. FoxNews are "fair and balanced" liars aren't they?
I'm not sure if I would have made it through that ordeal.
