Thread For Democratic Supporters Who Don't Hate Anyone

I like Kerry, Dean, Clark, Kucinich, Graham, Sharpton, Edwards, Braun, and Gephardt.

Why ? Because they are all democrats.

I also like Lieberman, but only if he wins the primary. I will not vote for Lieberman in the
primary, but if he wins it, I will vote for him in the presidential election.

I pledge to not trash any of them, or post any negative comments against any of them, anywhere
on the internet. Yes even Lieberman, I will not trash him either.

Stewert

8. Obviously
I like Dennis Kucinich but will vote for whoever gets the nomination. Why can't we discuss the pros and cons without it sounding like the Hannity show? Damn, it is so emotional around here but then again, until we have some fairness coming from our leaders the stress level will be high. Good post.

23. I don't "hate" Nader either but
he's not a Democrat so I don't include him in the spirit of this topic. I'm mindful that he helps the republican cause more than he helps the Democratic Party, but I won't participate in bashing him.

12. No trashing of Dem candidates during the primaries for me
I'm just sort of listening, sometimes in dismay, at all the flaming directed at Democratic candidates here.

Excpet possibly Lieberman, but only because he has so gratutiotously borrowed from the Bushevik Totalitarian Playbook to attack his fellow Democrats so frequently.

Every rule must have it's exception (and I'm Jewish).

That might disqualify me from your list, but even with me I fear it's going to be a very short list, indeed.

How frustrating to see that it has generated only eleven responses!

Come on, folks, this is what we've all needed to say and all needed to hear for weeks now! If you don't have anything to add to Stewert's excellent exposition of the issue, at least post a "right on!" or something.

18. I Don't Trash Candidates
I do trash posters who trash my candidate, however.

Valid concerns and questions are fine. But quoting RW and tinfoil-hat sources in furtherance of an ulterior motive is bullshit.

27. DTH - I am there with you on that
I don't, and will not trash Dem candidates (uh I may have called Lieberman a whore once but honestly I do try) but I won't just sit there and take the pure and utter tripe that gets slung at mine either. Honestly, do ANY of the other candidates get the level of tinfoil right wing CRAP thrown at them on DU as our guy? I've not seen it. I won't just sit there and take that. They can bite it.

I like honest open discourse and debate without trashing anyone.

19. I already promised to not trash Dem candidates.
Okay, I have strayed a couple of times, although I don't really think it's 'trashing' a candidate, when I say that they can't win.

But my pledge covers only those Dems who are currently running for prez. I.e., Biden is NOT one of those...

24. Same here
I don't trash anyone, and sadly, I won't open up any of the candidate threads here in DU because of the flaming that evolves. Many of the candidate supporters here are doing a disservice to their candidate when they bash the other Dem hopefuls.

I remember vividly how helpless and hopeless I felt the day Bush* was inaugurated; pacing the floor, sobbing and thinking I was alone with these feelings. I came to DU that day and it has been my safe haven and has helped preserve my mental health; our goal then and our goal now is the same, and that is to rid us of the Bush* cabal. The heartache I felt then continues each and every day that Bush* is Commander and Chief* and some days it is unbearable. So for sanity sake, for the sake of our future, I will be supportive any Democratic contender now and in 2004. We can deal with side issues later, but right now we are in clear and present danger in more ways than one.

Thank you for starting this thread, stewert.

25. The Candidate Attacks definitely get on my nerves!
I'm undecided, leaning toward Kerry or Dean, but I like things about most of the candidates.

I didn't think I'd like anything about Gephardt at the beginning of the year, but I really like his "Miserable Failure" campaign against Bush right now.

What Edwards lacks in experience, he begins to make up for in his attractiveness, likeability and intelligence.

I'm personally quite liberal so I love the candidates who really speak out---I support Kucinich and Sharpton, even though they're longshots.

Graham's stance against the Iraq War, and the fact that he's from a swing state, makes him a strong candidate.

I really enjoyed hearing Moseley-Braun during the last debate, especially her ideas for health care.

If Clark jumps in, he'd obviously be a strong candidate against Bush.

Lieberman promises he won't keep Ashcroft as the Attorney General.

So there you have it. I like all of the candidates!!!

29. One thing I agree with Reagan on...
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 05:27 PM by xray s
He used to have what he called "the eleventh commandment" which was "speak no ill of a fellow republican". In other words, keep your eye on the ball; defeating the other party.

That is not to say you shouldn't try like hell to get your favorite Democrat elected, but stick to promoting your issues and agressively challenging the other guys issues, not his/her personality.

Of course, when it come to Bush, there is nothing wrong with pointing out he is a dithering idiot, tree swinging chimp who is driving this country into a brick wall.

31. Not that sure...
I guess there are a few votes where Miller went with the democrats...

but you're right...We are not helping ourselves by being so nasty against other candidates...There's a post above which lays out the positive qualities of all candidates...Any of them would be an improvement over Bush...Hell Reagan and possibly Nixon himself would be an improvement! I'm trying to figure out of this is the worst administration in US history or just this century...I'm leaning towards all time!

But I still don't like them equally.

I'm going with the liberals - or as liberal as I can get.... I also like them to have a reasonable stage presence without being an actor.
