Fed judge delays CT's first execution in 40 years
HARTFORD, Conn. - A federal judge said Monday he will order a postponement in the execution of serial killer Michael Ross, who waived his appeals and was set to become the first person put to death in New England in nearly 45 years.

U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny said he wants to hear more evidence about Ross' mental capacity.

"I think it is inevitable that I will be issuing a stay postponing an execution until the outcome of this proceeding," Chatigny said. He did not say how long the stay would last.

Ross, 45, is on death row for the murders of four young women in eastern Connecticut in the early 1980s. His arrest in 1984 ended a three-year spree of attacks that stretched from Connecticut to New York, North Carolina, Illinois, and Ohio. He raped most of his victims, and killed eight of them, six in Connecticut.

2. I am conflicted on the Death Penalty
if you can convince me that a man like this will sit and rot in prison until he dies, than I am against the Death Penalty.

However the Loeb/Leopold case comes to mind, that was considered the murder of the century (late 1920"s) in Chicago, Clarence Darrow got the 2 off (they thought they could pull of the perfect murder/crime) in part by arguing that they would never get out of prison.

One died in prison (murdered) and the other one was paroled in 1947 after less than 20 years in prison.

No death penalty if life in facts means life. If not then I am not so sure, some people do some petty horrific stuff and some sort of justice is required.

3. you can put them in jail for life with no parole
Not sure what the exact law as, as I'm sure it varies by state. By, I remember way back when I studied the death penalty in the dark ages of the 1980s, it was 2 life terms + 1 day meant no parole in CT.

5. Fine I am Okay with that as
long as he is not allowed to petition for parole, because some years in the future it might be granted.

A man who did what this man has been judged as having done does not deserve the right to live a free society ever again.
