Elle Magazine: The Cult of Coulter
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 04:45 PM by XanthaS
Very long article, with some funny sections.

http://www.elle.com/article.asp?section_id=36&article_id=2899&page_number=1&preview=&magind=2844

Ann Coulter is talking too loud. Sitting across from me at an outdoor table at a restaurant on Manhattan's Upper East Side, she's almost shouting, laughing, tossing her long blond hair, flailing her hands, her voice drowning out the people at the adjacent tables with her staccato one-liners. They gradually fall silent, turn, and stare.

snip....

“Do you genuinely believe,” I say, trying to keep the girly-boy screech out of my voice, “that all liberals are anti-American?” “Some are,” she says, breezily. “Some are just useful idiots—just stupid. They say anything they happen to read on the op-ed page of The New York Times.” Just when Coulter has made my blood pressure spike into regions I didn't know existed, she ups the ante. At typically high volume, she lays out her thoroughly unsurprising views on abortion and gay marriage (she's against them). Asked precisely why she's against them, Coulter explains that they are abominations promoted by liberals in a deliberate effort to “coarsen the culture” and, as she puts it, “break down the normal attachments that humans have for each other” —attachments properly expressed only through heterosexual marriage and parenthood.

Which begs the question of Coulter's own contribution to the “coarsening” of the culture. At fortyish (she's been known to be more than a little coy about the exact number), she is childless and has never married. She declines to say whether she's a virgin, but she has dated widely (among her former boyfriends: Bob Guccione, Jr., son of the Penthouse publisher and himself the founder of the soft-core Gear magazine). Why, I can't resist asking, has Coulter not been able to form that “normal attachment” she holds in such high regard? “I keep asking that too,” she says. “I think there's only one person for you in the world. I'm going for the right person.”

is some type of invertabrate -- a slug, a worm, a mollusk... something like that would suit her.

he lives in a hut in Montana, never bathes, hears voices telling him not to pay taxes, and fears gay bears.

5. As soon as we get a Democrat in the WH let’s round
up all the wacko freedom-hating conservatives and send them to concentration camps, or just kill them outright…wait a minute, has that idea been floated already?

6. I wouldn't doubt that she's had sex and
maybe even an abortion. Hypocrites are always loudest with their proclamations. Also, does it say whether there was drinking? A high on alcohol will cause loud talking.

7. It's Absurd, Isn't It?!!
But if anyone in the world deserves to die a virgin, it's Ann Coulter.

9. she can't find the right man because the right one
is a woman. there's too much smoke there not to be fire.

She's also a disgusting show off like my cousin Ellen. If
she had to do the straddle splits named on a bed of nails
to get attention, she would. What those people needed to
do at the adjoining tables was slap her ass.

12. Yes,
I haadn't hought of that, but it is very likely... the louders screamers are usually suffering reaction formation - she probably had an abortion herself (and perhaps lesbian feelings).

22. Are ya kiddin'
Man, she's got boy parts on the inside. She'd have to have been born a woman to have an abortion.

10. I find this phrase very interesting.
<snip>

"Female in the derisive sense is when someone, male or female, behaves like the très girly Aunt Pittypat Hamilton in Gone With the Wind—fabulous at the bazaar, useless during the burning of Atlanta.”

This describes nearly all the right-wing, conservative christian women I have met.

11. Also read Al Franken's Lies!
A woman named Coulter cried "Treason."
She did it without any reason.
Though we know that she lied,
'twas perhaps justified:
On her brain, I'm afraid, there 's a lesion.

Cheap shop, maybe, but chapters 2 & 3, Ann Coulter: Nutcase, is full of examples of her lies.

18. Maybe there is some use for that duct tape after all.
Slap it across her mouth. A paper bag over her head wouldn't hurt either. Then some loser might show an interest in her.

I just saw this article in Elle, a very mainstream magazine, and thought DU would be interested. It's not the most flattering article.
