Why does Ken Mehlman get a free pass, but not SpongeBob?
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:54 PM by mopaul
Some cheap but probably true gossip that not enough people are aware of yet, but should be.

If the impunity and integrity of SpongeBob is to be besmirched willy nilly, then perhaps so too should that of Ken Mehlman, Chairman of the virulently homophobic Republican Party.

1. I understand the hypocracy, but our GLBT friends HATE these gleeful posts
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:46 PM by Richardo

I tend to agree with them - I think I know your intent: to point out massive hypocracy, but the tone of the subject line implies that there's something to scorn about being gay.

Just sayin'

13. I LOVE these gleeful posts!

Don't presume to speak for all "our GLBT friends", Ricardo.

I appreciate all of Mopaul's posts.

14. I'm not speaking for them - but I've received input from some

...when I posted stuff in the same vein that I thought was fun. It's the tone.

To each his (or her) own.

2. This is something that should not be joked about
GLBT issues are very serious, and privacy is personal and a matter of choice. Shame.

3. I'm not joking
I'm being a smart ass. I'm on the side of the gays and lesbians, do I actually have to say it?

7. If you really thought about the implications for 2 seconds
you wouldnt have said that. Dont try to hurt the cause for such silly ends. Who knows who might be the next David Brock.

5. There's nothing wrong with being gay, but
I'd pay good money to see the expressions on the faces of some Republicans when this news gets around. Come on, even our gay and lesbian friends have to see the humor in it.

Have you forgotten the rule?

If a Republican does it, it's okay!

Everyone else, of course, is subject to rigorous investigation...

Edit: clarification :)

Didn't you people know that already?

So, shame on you, SpongeBob!

"Screw you, liberal scumbag."

Or, just like it looks.

11. 2 Comments:

1. The lunatics are not accusing my buddy the sponge of being gay--only of being an evil promoter of tolerance and diversity to America's children.
See http://www.wearefamilyfoundation.org for more information on this music video and the "We are Family Foundation".

2. It is not appropriate to ridicule this creep Ken Mehlman or anybody else for being gay. However he did promote anti-gay initiatives during the last election cycle, so if he is gay, he is the slimiest, most vile type of hypocrite there is--totally without morals.

15. Because Mehlman doesn't go around displaying his 'gayness'
(if in fact he is even gay at all).

The religious right is criticizing the cartoon because they believe it contains a message they are opposed to. This is normal politics.

Melhman, either indirectly or directly, has not indicated that he is gay, or that he has an opinion about gays one way or the other, except for the fact that he is a Republican. And there are pro-gay Republicans out there.

IMO, outing Melhman or anyone else because of political disagreement would be anti-American and a personal attack -- it would be against our shared libertarian values, namely personal privacy, which is sacred to most Americans.

16. Don't think of it as outing a gay person ...
Think of it as outing a hypocrite.

If Flush Limbaugh kevtches about drugs on his radio show but secretly amasses a stash of oxycontin, he deserves to be humiliated for his hypocrisy.

If Bill Bennett bitches about the lack of moral values while he secretly feeds his gambling problems, he deserves to by publicly humiliated for his hypocrisy.

If Newt Gingrich touts "family values" but gets his wife to sign divorce papers while she's still groggy from breast cancer surgery, he deserves public humiliation.

And if Miss Melhman wants to be head of the virulently homophobic Repugnantcan Party while he secretly goes home at night to bugger a boyfriend, then he deserves to be "outed," too.

If the Repugnantcans insist on playing "the values card," then we should be willing to let the public know every time one of them fails to live up to the values they preach.

19. I agree with you. Exposing hypocrisy is democratic
If a gay republican is pushing laws that violate others' right to privacy, then they should be held up to the same standard. If he supports an agenda that says homosexuality is a sin, he should be outed. I have no sympathy for bottom-feeding hyprocrites.

20. Good to see you Mo!
Haven't seen you in awhile, but I don't come around this place like I used to.

I have had Sponge Bob floor mats in my vehicle for over a year, and EGADS! I must now consider the fact, that I, me, myself, might be a homosexual male trying to promote the homo agenda via my auto mechanics!

Ack! Who knew a woman could be such a covert operator!!
