1. For those who support this war...
AND pray for our troops, I'd like to put them right in the middle of this godforsaken war in Iraq so they can get a feel of just how well prayer works. The flag-waving assholes who are all too willing to send others to die so they can slap those stupid yellow 'Support the Troops' ribbons on their SUV's and feel 'United' in 'God Bless America' can have their vomitous postulations.

4. I saw a yellow "pray for our troops" ribbon
on a vehicle the other day. It had not one but Two crosses worked into the design. These folks are insane.

It is not funny now. I wonder what people who would wear this thing ask for when they pray for the troops.

for that psycho in the WH** to be removed from office. That is the only way to show support for the troops as I see it.

6. Conservatives provided the loud voices of support
so bush felt comfortable in committing our troops; now the fuckwads want us to pray for those trapped in the mistake they supported. Why, pray tell, do they need our prayers? Is it because conservatives made another monstrous misjudgement and because of their arrogrant pride they won't confront the white house, they'll ask instead for prayer?

9. They have to be camo
They intend to allow you to buy one to be sent to a troop in Iraq to wear. You know, to show you are praying for him. If it were bright orange, it'd just make for a better target. Imagine the bad press when troops get shot/blown up because they're easier to spot.

The pres of the company is a Jesus freak. I find it odd that such a charitable endeavour would register as a for-profit corporation, rather than as a non-profit.

12. buy one for the troops to wear?
They aren't supposed to wear bracelets while in uniform, unless it's a MedicAlert bracelet. If they intended for the troops to wear them too, it's another chickenhawk who wasn't willing to risk their own life that thought this gem up or they would have known better.

21. Did the rules change?
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 01:17 PM by lwfern
"Q. What jewelry may be worn while in uniform?
A. Watch, I.D. bracelet, two or less rings, religious medallion on a chain provided it is concealed, and a tie clasp with the neck tie."

Unless that counts as an ID bracelet, it's not authorized.

25. I'm not seeing it
http://www.narmc.amedd.army.mil/kacc/Employees/Epubs/Policies/Policy_021.pdf says the same thing.

(1) Soldiers may wear a wristwatch, a wrist identification bracelet, and a total of two rings (a wedding set is considered one ring) with Army uniforms, unless prohibited by me for safety or health reasons. Any jewelry soldiers wear must be conservative and in good taste. Identification bracelets are limited to medical alert bracelets and MIA/POW identification bracelets. Soldiers may wear only one item on each wrist.

It goes on to say:

(2) No jewelry, other than described in paragraph (1), above, will appear exposed while wearing the uniform; this includes watch chains, or similar items, and pens and pencils. The only authorized exceptions are religious items described in AR 670-1, paragraph 1-7b, a conservative tie tack or tie clasp that male soldiers may wear with the black four-in-hand necktie; and a pen or pencil that may appear exposed on the hospital duty, food service, combat vehicle crewman’s, or flight uniforms.

and

(5) Ankle bracelets, necklaces (other than those described in AR 670-1, paragraph 1-7b), faddish (trendy) devices, medallions, amulets, and personal talismans or icons are not authorized for wear in any military uniform, or in civilian clothes on duty.

Your wife might be wearing one, and they may not have called her on it, but it's not authorized.

26. "religious medallion on a chain"

It didn't say "religious medallion on a necklace", it said "on a chain" which would include a bracelet.

30. back to the source
AR 670-1 http://www.usapa.army.mil/pdffiles/r670_1.pdf

"a religious item worn on a chain may not be
visible when worn with the utility, service, dress, or mess uniforms."

So I guess if the bracelet is always hidden, then yes, it's authorized. If it shows, it's not. I'll concede that she may always have it hidden under long sleeves that cover it.

These bracelets, however, would not meet the criteria, as far as I can see.

15. I Pray for Peace. "P4OT" is too cute by half,.......
and sends an ambiguous message. Pray for our Troops to do what? Come home safely? Certainly. Pray for our troops to kill civilians? Torture in our name? Certainly not. The simple (minded) "Pray for our Troops" is just another way for the warmongering chicken hawks to wrap themselves in the flag to deflect any protest of their satanic policies.

36. I've seen those. They also say "Made in China"
Worse yet, they're part of a scam: They cost about 3 bucks, and for each one sold $1 is supposed to be sent to support the USO.

Of course, the ol'bushit-o-meter starts dinging:

1) The things are so cheaply made, the seller's profit (over the donation) has got to be in the ballpark of $1.5 each. Not very efficient donating...

2) ...and just who makes sure that ANY money gets donated?

20. Plastic Patriotism
Now you too can show your "support" for our country by buying a whole bunch of useless crap and thinking in your deluded mind that you're actually supporting our troops when all you're really doing is making some two-bit "inventor" rich.

The simple fact that a multitude of Americans will buy this and actually think that this is the only proper method of supporting our troops boggles my mind.
