Fundamentalist Mormon Polygamists Proclaim Bush will Free Them
The Mormon Polygamists are hoping now that Bush gives them total freedom across the country like they currently have in Arizona, Utah, Idaho and other Republican-controlled areas.

-snip-

On, January 20, 2005, re-elected President George W. Bush was sworn in again for his second term. His 21-minute Inaugural Speech declared it would be U.S. policy to promote liberty for all individuals throughout the world.

Numerous quotes in the President's speech, therefore, inspire pro-polygamists with great hope for eventual true freedom. The modern "polygamy rights" movement will soon succeed -- freedom.

When I told my Republican Christian friend about the Republicans helping the polygamists and gave him the printed articles, he was really shaken and said "You can't know who to vote for, can you?" I told him we Dems would stand with the Evangelicals to stop the Mormon Polygamists. He seemed relieved!

3% of Regular LDS Mormons are polygamists, 100% of Fundamentalist Mormons are polygamists (FLDS).

Mormon Polygamists believe Jesus approved of polygamy, as did the Bible and Joseph Smith their founder. In 1886, Smith arranged for polygamy to go underground but still be the true believer's way.

Girls younger than 14 are regularly married and shipped back and forth between the communities. This amounnt to sex slavery and child abuse. Women average 10 children each.

The Republican AG of Utah, Mark Shurtleff says he will not go after known polygamy communities. Since every woman averages 10 children, they eventually take over whole small rural communities.

Jerry Falwell! The FLDS Polygamists are coming to your neighborhood--and the Republicans are subsidizing them by letting 33% of them collect welfare! They are now in 30 states. The Evangelicals have been betrayed by the REpublicans, while the polygamists now hope Bush will finally give them their freedom to be open.

1. Do they also want tax breaks and concessions for multiple wives?
When this scam was mooted in the UK recently for Muslims wanting special tax rates for their 2nd/3rd/4th wives, there was an ourbreak of people shouting "humbug".

Mormons might like to test the water on this one - and see if women living in polyandrous relationships can then claim breaks for their multiple husbands...

3. they are actually not legally married, that's how they get away with it
Then they stash women in multiple houses and each one becomes a single mother on welfare.

By staying in Republican-controlled states and areas they can be subsidized in their breeding (avg. 10 kids per wife).

It's quite a racket and has spread to 30 states in just several years and will soon be eating into the Evangelicals and other sects.

25. I'm all for polyandry - but can you imagine the righteous outcry
from the religious nutters espousing the divine right of males to multiple spouses if women are suddenly allowed equal rights and unlimited husbands - with all the relevant tax breaks, concessions and priviledges?

2. Hang on a goddamn minute!
Weren't the right wingers accusing gay marriage supporters of wanting to open the door to polygamy? Now we learn the truth...

5. It's the gays that are the problem
Sheesh - get on script, will you? Them gays are the ones opening the door to polygamy. This article is just another clever trick of the liberal media pushing the gay agenda. ;-)

7. This has to be prosecuted
as the rape of children. It's the only way to go after these bastards since there are no legal marriages with all the successive wives.

Going after these bastards for child support is also a way to get them. Strip them clean.

I have no problem with polygamy/polyandry as such, if it's practiced among consenting adults and the women retain veto power over new wives and the men over new husbands. To each his own.

However, raping and breeding a succession of twelve year olds is wrong, destructive to all concerned, and must be stopped.

8. I live a couple miles from a polygamist Morman community
of about 400 in rural Montana. Not only do the ones I know have several wives but most don't pay taxes either, don't know of any cheating on welfare. Polgamy is for the most part legal here, never enforced, biggest problem in this town is that after over 100 years they are running out of last names.

15. It's in the Old Testament.
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 03:21 PM by Bridget Burke
Jacob was tricked into marrying Leah, then married her sister Rachel--the one he'd wanted. But he kept both of them.

David & Solomon both had many wives & concubines.

Most conservative Christians would be appalled. But some of the hardcore Christian Reconstructionists would be willing to take in a new, young wife on occasion. Constant pregnancy & childbearing probably wear out the old ones pretty quickly.
