just musing:
I was a kid during WWII and all of us americans got to see and read the real news of the war. the news took longer to get to us, but it did get to us. we saw war movie footage at the movies before the main attraction started. we read papers and magazines with still shots of the war. we saw it all, not like now when the bushgang tries to hide it. so as a kid, I knew.
so at nightfall my father would get his billy club and badge given to him by the gov. and go out into the streets with the other appointed men, to make sure all the blackout curtains were in place and no light showed, and that no one was driving with their lights on. (this was in the Wash., D.C. outer suburbs)
before I could go to sleep I would lay in bed, or sit in a patch of moonlight and hone the speech I would give to Hitler, if I ever had the chance. I thought long and hard of the right words to say that would stop him from murdering jews, gypsys, homosexuals, etc. I did this most nights.
I'm wondering what american girls sitting in the moonlight think about the bloody hands bushgang and the murder and destruction of Iraq? maybe they don't think anything at all and think the moonlight is a nuisance. I hope not. I hope they are thinking of the right words to say to save america and the world.

2. Also, we got real news over the radio from Edward R. Murrow |
|
and other real journalists who believed in presenting all the facts as completely as they knew them in a dispassionate and non-partisan way. The only guy who even came close to the RW hacks of today was Walter Winchell and for the most part he confined his program and column to celebrity gossip, only occasionally focused on politicians.
