Who are the REAL "Surrender Monkeys"? The French? Or is it the...
...Democratic party leadership?

Why is it that the French have 5 weeks vacation and 35 hr weeks and universal healthcare and state run child care and low cost college tuition? Because their LEADERS fought for it.

Our leaders, the Democrats, instead look to enhance corporate profits.

The Democratic party leadership, they are the REAL Surrender Monkeys.

->in fact, people fight for it, then the leaders had no choice but to accomodate them. People go on national strikes very often there...

4. Their leaders, or the people themselves? Plus I have to ask, how much of
an effect did WW2, i.e., basically pushing the reset button on their society have on it? In other words, once they were out from under the German rule, did they have better ideas about the role of corporate interests in society?

6. Actually social advances had already been made before tha war.
In 1936 Socialist Prime minister Leon Blum's governmant passed such legislation as the 40-hour week, paid holidays for the workers, or collective bargaining on wage claims.

Blum became the first socialist and the first Jew to be Prime Minister of France (looks like they weren't all anti-semites after all).
