2. What is a petroleum freeze movement?
Just a movement for people to stop driving?

Or what?

I mean if we are all going to stop using our cars, isn't that comparable to calling for a National Strike (a pipe dream I hate to say).

3. we need to organize a powerful resistance to wilderness drilling
I cant think of anything else to do in this climate, but we must resist the immediate grabs being made.

6. Yeah but if we have that kind of energy
we need to focus it elsewhere. Say in getting our Soldiers home from Iraq or in stopping Bush's plan to phase out Social Security.

7. I dont think we can do more than we have at resisting the war
when they dont care what we think or vote, its futile as far as demanding change. Go after their main goal, which is unbridled access to petroleum and you are right at their achilles heel. This could be the only way to attack the real raison d'etre of war.

8. That doesn't make any sense at all
If you prevent them from drilling for oil in the United States isn't that going to make us even more dependent on foreign oil?

9. only if we continue to overuse and abuse
believe it or not, there ARE electric vehicles ready to go on sale and in current use by VERY satisfied would be customers. We have a plethora of alternatives that will need to be implemented by local and state governments in order to get past a federal government subsumed by the oilagarchy. Try not to take my statements the wrong way, this may be our only way out. Solidarity.

12. Its kind of hard to put US citizens in Iraq to fight the US
Perhaps you havent grasped the notion that there are energy alternatives to petroleum? Foreign oil dependancy is a GHWB specialty.
They dont consider it a problem whatsoever, even if there are laws against it.

10. while allowing colonialist oil grabs elsewhere in the world?
how about we try and get media- and government attention for the problem that is the basis for all these oil and gas grabs: the impending end of the oil age?
