Wonder how hard it's going to be for Weyco to get/keep employees?
The CEO was just on Countdown bragging about all the good they're doing by passing a company rule that forbids any employee to smoke...even at home! They fired 4 employees who refused to take a test to prove they were smoke free. He said ti was a health issue.

The host asked "what about employees who are obese, that's a health issue too." He responded that they already have programs for employees to work on those kind of health issues too!

It's nice for a company to offer programs to help employees who wish to loose weight, or want to stop smoking, but it should be completely voluntary!

If I worked there, I'd be sending out resumes! If I were looking for a job, I sure wouldn't go there!!!

1. I'd work there. Cigarette smoke smells like sh^t.
Even people who 'go outside to smoke' stand 2 feet from the door, so the smoke comes into the building....then they have that awful cigarette smoke on their breath and clothes.

Yuck!

And if you're a smoker....know that the GOP loves you.

Cigarette companies are the biggest and most loyal GOP financial supporters.

3. I am a smoker, but I buy mine on the net and they're imported.
Somehow I doubt I'm contributing much to the American tobacco companies.

I understand your gripe about smoking too close to the building, or smoking inside, but you might want to think about a company firing their employees because they might smoke in their own home. Lots of people talk about the slippery slope. This CEO is doing this to hold down his health care costs. How will you feel when he fires people who are obese, have diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or some other disease that also increases health care costs?

Be careful what you ask for.....

4. Even cigarettes are a personal freedom issue.
