The Hostage said Bush is Selfish...why is this in so few news reports?
I'm sure this has been discussed at some point, but I couldn't find it. I just saw the video of the latest hostage, Roy Hallums, and he said he wasn't asking for help from Bush because Bush is selfish and doesn't care about anyone over there. (paraphrasing)

And yet...I'm finding this little tidbit of info in very few news stories - like the link below, for example.

This drives me fucking nuts. The election is over. Their guy "won." Can't they even tell a little bit of the truth?

3. I heard that on a radio new report this morning and the selfish
part was immediately followed by - hostagaes will say anything that their captors tell them to say and may not reflect how they truly feel.

6. Actually, my thought was, How in the hell do you know what he
means when he says something asswipe. I was surprised that it was as blatant as it was.

7. why were they clearly his own words?
I saw a news report on this (CBS with Dan) and his family didn't seem to think it was his own words. They might have an idea how he really feels about bush.

One can't take anything a man with a gun to his head says at face value, for the same reason that torture doesn't work.

I hope the poor man makes it, regardless of how he feels about bush, but I don't think that he meant what he said.

I have heard that. No, they can't and won't tell the truth. We are through the looking glass now.

8. My first thought was
Because it's not news! Everybody already knows how selfish he is!

But yeah, the media all roll over for presidents they perceive to be popular. They never pointed out, for example, how preposterous most of Reagan's ad libs were, all that "trees cause pollution" nonsense.

It's not a purely partisan thing; they did it for JFK too, back in the day (mainly by covering up a private life that made Bill Clinton look like a monk). And I don't think they protected Bush41 much; we all saw him vomiting on the Japanese prime minister. (And Nixon-- the reason the Watergate story had legs was, journalists despised him. If only they could work up an equivalent antipathy to Smirky...)
