Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 10:16 PM by diamond14

bush* doesn't care...this "commander-in-chief" just party's and dances while these guys die, and NEVER goes to a funeral....NOBODY much cares anymore, just a few people like me that post their photos....no mentions on TV anymore, no stories about their lives and their families and the children left behind....these guys are just CANNON FODDER for the bush* war-profiteers, just like Vietnam....the bush* wars will go on for YEARS, because there is simply NO OUTRAGE at all...none....nothing at all...

2. The US Army
should never be use for occupation. Bush has harmed the US Army, its image and its reputation.

I dont blame the troops for not wanting to go back. How can so many suffer from post combat stress when they come back?

24. That second link
Had this poem on the front page. It gave me the chills.

Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?
The torrential rains of a mother's weeping will never be done
They call him a hero, you should be glad that he's one, but
Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?

Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?
He must be brave because his boy died for another man's lies
The only grief he allows himself are long, deep sighs
Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?

Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?
They say that he died so that the flag will continue to wave
But I believe he died because they had oil to save
Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?

Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?
The leaders want to keep you numb so the pain won't be so deep
But if we the people let them continue another mother will weep
Have you ever heard the sound of a nation being rocked to sleep?

28. Even better would be one with proper obits
For every fallen soldier there is a story that goes beyond the cold impersonal facts of where and when he fell and even beyond the requisite statement by someone (does Rumsfeld send those people out? that the soldier died doing what he loved crap.

There is an article almost always somewhere that tells what the young man or woman was hoping for in life, the pressures that led them to joind the military or reserves, and the whole in the lives of their friends and families.

Now getting a lot of those stories together and putting them on a blog and adding to them daily would be priceless if we could get that blog looked at by Americans who don't normally visit liberal sites.

We could do that by taking the link to message boards that are not politically related.

It works. I did it with a picture page before the war that showed that the victims of an invasion might largely be children. It became quite popular.

I'm doing something else right now, but it's a good idea. You can get the free blog space at eblogger.

Then let us know here about it.

but without media attention, Americans will never know the true horror. Instead I keep reading about soldiers being court martial for not wanting to go back.

15. It makes me sick
to think of how many family members have been touched by these soldiers' deaths.

I mean, take the number of soldiers who have died (1400-1500?), and multiply it by the number of parents, siblings, friends, and other family members. The numbers are staggering.

19. Remember when the NYT printed all 1000 pictures
when we hit that landmark. I spent the rest of the day looking those men and women in the eye.

Looking at those photos, two stood out for me for some reason.

Huey P. L. Fassbender looks kind of scared.

Alain L. Kamolvathin doesn't look old enough to shave.

We need threads like these. Someone needs to put a human face on the number.

21. I read four to eight mini-bios of killed soldiers every day . . .
on page 3 of my local paper . . . most include photos . . . I make it a point to read every one of them to help keep my anger from dissipating . . . every one of these deaths (not to mention tens of thousands of INNOCENT Iraqis) is a crime directly attributable to George W. Bush and his lame-brained minions . . . for what he's done to these Americans, these Iraqis, and the nation of Iraq, the sumbitch should fry . . .

36. I am very sorry for your loss
Your cousin died in great service of our country, and no one here does not appreciate his sacrifice. I believe diamond14 shares your grief, and seeks to raise awareness of this loss. Many Americans are outraged at Bush's lack of consideration for our troops or the people we're supposed to be liberating.

However, a family request for privacy should be respected.
