It's time to get rid of the Vichy Democrats on Capitol Hill.
I am sick of these people, aren't you? I am sick of the Liebermans, the Feinsteins, and every stinking one of them who have supported every inkling of the Bush agenda. I really am. These people do not deserve my vote or anybody who cares about where the Democratic Party is headed. I am not worried about my congressman Jim McDermott but I am a little bothered by my Senator Maria Cantwell. She voted for the invasion of Iraq. Cantwell also supported NAFTA and not too mention she is DLC. Anybody who is a DLC politican should be voted out of office and bring the Democratic Party back to the progressivism it once championed.

2. Wouldn't it be Nice to Have
a progressive labor party.

We can start with Health Care for all Americans.

Repeal NAFTA.

Secure our Borders.

Raise the Minimum Wage.

Right to Organize.

and some issues you might not like.

such as,

Drilling in Alaska.

Increased Nuclear Power Plants.

This should be about jobs and a better life for all Americans.

3. NO NO NO
We can't clone 600 and some odd Paul Welstones or Dennis Kucinichs or Barbara Boxers and elect them to every congress seat and the presidency. Any democrat is a good democrat in my book right now. We've barely got the votes to repel the tidal wave of bush insanity even if they do get themselves together and vote as a unit. We can't lose anyone at this point.

4. What good is an opposition party when many of them go along with....
Bush and his twisted agenda? What good is the Democratic Party when many of whom pretend to be Republican?

6. Maria Cantwell
She flies under the radar. I wrote her about my displeasure with her Iraq vote. I got back a letter telling me that a vote for Iraq would allow us to move on to other issues more quickly.

I wrote her again promising her that I would vote for her opponent in the primary. If she won the primary, I would hold my nose and vote for her. I get back another letter thanking me for my kind words. At that point, I was ready to vote third party.

I'll probably vote for her just to keep as many democrats as possible in congress, but I'll be holding my nose. She can count on me to vote someone else in the primary.

8. The primaries are the place to vent your displeasure.
I really hope that the Democratic leadership gets serious about enforcing core principles. Seems that Dean can help us with this, too. I know that some regional issues make it difficult, but it seems there are core values that shold be enforced....or the offenders will face real opposition in their next primary. Maybe if they start seeing this kind of activism in the primaries, they'll start supporting our agenda.

10. LOL
How? Lieberman and Feinstein will win overwhelmingly should they choose to run again. Feinstein is far more popular than Boxer in California. Lieberman hasn't faced a serious primary challenge in ages. There is no way that either one of them gets replaced by another Democrat in a primary and both are pretty safe in a general election. You better concentrate on getting some Republican seats and protecting vulnerable Democrats rather than wondering how to get rid of Democrats that aren't everything that you want them to be. Republicans will be only too happy to help you with that.

11. Oh but you're wrong!
Gays and lesbians are tired of Vichycrats who are voting away our rights. We're starting a scorched earth strategy to teach them a lesson and take anti-gay Democrats down in swing states, and we're sure we're going to see women, labor and other groups do the same as well.

13. Right ... sure
I'm sure that gays and lesbians will be opposing Diane Feinstein, former popular San Francisco mayor, in droves. If your "scorched earth" campaign accomplishes anything, you'll get some Republicans elected.

14. That's precisely the goal -- electing Republicans in Vichycrats' districts
Edited on Wed Jan-26-05 05:09 AM by Brian_Expat
If some Democrats think they're going to win elections by voting like Republicans and not fighting the GOP, they're going to learn a big lesson. There's no point in electing a Democrat who votes Republican on major issues.

By the way, where did we mention Feinstein? That's YOUR invention, not ours. Target #1 is going to be Dakota Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth.

As for assuming that simply because someone's a former mayor of San Francisco, they're going to be supported by gays strikes me as a little bit stereotyping, too -- perhaps even homophobic.

15. How about you read the original post in this thread
Feinstein - right there in the first line. And as for "homophobic," you must have a definition for the word with which I am unfamiliar. In any event, Feinstein is very, very popular in California and among the gay community. That's not conjecture. It's a fact.

Oh, out of curiosity, do you intend to scorch Senator Byrd if he chooses to run again?

16. I was talking about Vichycrats in general
And anyone who voted for anti-gay laws this past election season is certainly an option. Most of us are very tired of shilling for Democrats who turn around and stab us in the back -- from Bill Clinton all the way up to Stephanie Herseth.

Our loyalty was in most elections the strongest single constituency in terms of Dem votes that existed. What did we get for it? DOMA from Bill Clinton, the Marriage Protection Act sponsored by a number of Democrats, the anti-gay constitutional amendment sponsored by a number of Democrats, DP benefits cancelled by "liberal" governors, etc.

After all, he was the most enthusiastic supporter and promoter of DOMA ... from either party.

17. yea! toss them out for republican snakes
I understand your theory to mean you want the government returned to
the people. Then there is an even simpler solution. HELP the republicans
crash the car, elect stupid republicans and don't oppose their efforts
to destroy the nation. They are working by themselves a more powerful
effect than their opposition could ever dream. By simply being
themselves, they will remove all future for their party, as the public
will eventually sicken and begin to hate the fetid cespool that is
their vision of the world... a place of hatred and fear. Then the
nation will become poor, the military will be bankrupt and over time,
second rate, and then we'll see change years on from now.

By opposing, in a funny way, we sustain their tenure in office, as we
help keep them sane... underneath the activation energy of their
total insanity.

18. The Vichycrats are actually setting up their own downfall.
Can you say Tom Daschle? This is about replacing the wimps with some fighters like Barbara Boxer, Howard Dean, and Dennis Kucinich. How many times are those DLC types going to realize that you cannot win by being Republican Lite? WAKE THE HELL UP, PEOPLE!!!

23. Kick and a comment.
I thought I would give this thing a little kick considering that certain Demo Senators decided to "go along to get a long...again!" and back the nomination of Condi Rice as Secretary of State. My "Democratic" Senatorial shit list has been solidified. Joe Biden, Joe Lieberman, Dianne Feinstein, Maria Cantwell, Barak Obama, Hilary Clinton, you are not worth the people who voted you into the Senate. I am deeply ashamed of you and every other so-called Democrat who voted this liar into the Department of State.

I also want to say kudos to Senators Kennedy, Kerry, Harkin, Boxer, Jeffords, and the other Senators for voting against Rice.

starting to come around. Also, I don't think Hillary will be getting many votes from me either unless I have no choice. I am really pissed off with her votes as senator to go to war and now to confirm the Rice as SOS. Now I'm not hating her like the freepers do. I am just disappointed.
