Sen. Clinton to Start Earning Royalties on "Living History"
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has begun earning royalties above the $8 million advance she was paid for her memoir "Living History," her publisher said Monday.

Hardcover sales of the book last week surpassed the 1,365,000 copies mark necessary to earn the $8 million advance Simon & Schuster paid for Clinton's account of her years as first lady, said Carolyn Reidy, president of the adult publishing division at Simon & Schuster.

After that point, Sen. Clinton, D-N.Y., makes about $4.20 on every book sold.

"She is a kind of touchstone for women of her generation," said Reidy, adding she hopes hardcover sales will eventually surpass 1.5 million copies.

"The wicked nay-sayers have been defeated. This book, by any measure, is a major success," Clinton book lawyer Robert Barnett said Monday.

1. My Boyfriend's Aunt Bought This Book & Loved It
and my boyfriend was surprised because he had always thought his Aunt was a Republican, but apparently she had a change of heart somewhere a few years back. She loves Hillary, rushed out to buy the book!

7. Good for Hillary!
Ann Coulter flopped relative to Clinton, even with all the right wing billionaires probably buying up her books by the tens of thousands.

10. Why do you all love Hillary?
Hillary is just a carpetbagger who used her husband's scandal to start her political career.

She's not a great woman by any means. Give me Emma Goldman or Barbara Lee.

12. The Great Accomplashments of Senator Hillary Clinton
Edited on Mon Sep-08-03 09:01 PM by rusk2003
Senator Clinton is not carpetbagger she was the First Lady they are not suppose to side with one area of the country or another but I think everone will make an exception for TEAXS she was borned in Illions not the SOUTH. she had a acticve roll in the affiars of state and governmnet looking out for the people of America as First Lady.

She visted Africa and also helped many people esp children. Before being First Lady of America or Arkansas she was one of the top 100 Attorneys. She also worked for Congress in the 70's something to do with watergate.

She was also a drving force behind Clinton being elected President$Govoner of Ak She was appoited by President Carter in 1978 to some special committe. Anyway she has done more for this country as First Lady than any other before her and she is the best Senator in the Congress right now. And she will make a terrific President (hopefully soon.

Maybe you should read her book and see what she's been about her whole life - a life of service. I went to her book signing in Pasadena, and was one of the fortunate ones to get in (my friend and I got there at 4 a.m. and we were numbers 50 and 51 in line). Many, many people were turned away because the crowd was just too big. We had a wonderful time chatting with other Hillary fans and some of their stories were truly amazing. Hillary has helped the underdog her whole life, and as far as I'm concerned, the most incredible first lady we've ever had. Meeting her at the signing was a highlight of my life.

15. Jeez. I remember reading a week or two ago
that her publisher was laying employees off, and the freepers were attributing it to the fact that they couldn't afford to pay them since they had to pay Hillary her fee. I suspect that the publisher is perfectly happy with the book, the money it is generating, and the money they are paying her. If anything, this book might have saved a few more from getting laid off.
