"Liberalism is a form of insanity..."

So said hate radio commentator Michael Savage this past Monday night, 1/24. He went on to say that anyone who has Liberal leanings will be rounded up and put in prison.

I know that I shouldn't listen to this crap because it does nothing but piss me off. I work at a radio station; and unfortunately, our AM station airs his show through the week. I had to monitor the station Monday night, making sure that it was running correctly.

Here's the thing that really pissed me off:

Right after he made the above statement, he started ranting about a report on Faux news. Apparently, a reporter had a story about the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camps, focusing on Auschwitz.

According to Savage, the reporter had said that "...thousands of Jews had died at the camp." He flew into a rage and said that it was an outrage that Faux news was rewriting history by saying that thousands of Jews died at Auschwitz when we all know it was one million or more.

Of course, I thought his outrage was justifiable; but weighed against what he said about Liberals, I was pissed off. Isn't he supporting the same treatment for Liberals that Hitler used for Jews?

Believe it or not, some of his listeners want this guy to run for President in 2008.

We went through a period not long ago where we locked people up indiscriminantly; that was wrong, but it was at least intended out of self-defense. I know they killed some 6 million jews, and 9 million people, at all their camps combined, but I have no idea how many were killed at each camp. I don't think someone saying thousands is some kind of liberal slant mistake.

From a reading of Speer's "Inside the Third Reich", the vast majority of those in the higher ranks of power were there for the money. The ideology was simply a way to mold the will of the masses.

I thought it was quite amusing that he's outraged by the actions of the Nazis, then he turns around and supports the same actions for Liberals. Can we say hypocrite?

Believe me, I wasn't listening by choice. It's part of my job to make sure that the station is running correctly.
