Ask them about the money spent to educate and train them.


Most PNACers and Freepers don't see the waste in the human losses in Iraq. They will tie the deaths to a theory about establishing democracy.

But have them consider the value of the education and training that the soldiers have used up. All of our soldiers have been educated (K-12, and college) to be productive for the rest of their lives. Add to that the military training that includes invaluable experience.

If they can't understand the loss to family and friends, they might conclude that a lot of investment is going to waste.

Freepers won't see the waste in Iraq, because it doesn't fit with their alternative reality. If they gave in to that fact, they might have to give in to others, and their entire worldview would come crashing down around them.

You'd have better luck expecting a blind man to describe a sunset than expecting the Freepers to see the waste in Iraq.
